Job description
About the Role
Deltatre builds the platforms behind some of the world's most-watched sports and entertainment organisations, and this role sits within the Digital team of its delivery organisation, which covers the websites, apps and publishing tools that keep fans connected between events. The Senior Project Manager leads cross-functional teams through complex, multi-disciplinary delivery, owning everything from sprint execution and project financials to client relationships and pre-sales scoping. The position is the central point of alignment between client objectives, delivery execution and commercial outcomes, working alongside designers, engineers and technologists to deliver experiences used by millions of fans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex Digital projects from kickoff through launch and post-launch support.
- Define, communicate and agree the scope of work with both the client and internal stakeholders, keeping delivery aligned with client objectives and the quality of the end-user experience.
- Translate client business objectives into measurable delivery outcomes that feed into account and portfolio strategy.
- Own the project backlog agreed with the client, including writing epics and user stories so the development team delivers the right level of value and quality each sprint.
- Facilitate sprint planning, estimation and retrospectives, act on what they surface, run daily standups and coach the team on agile practices.
- Track team velocity, project financials (P&L) and KPIs against the project plan, and report on project performance across delivery speed, scope, quality and cost.
- Create and maintain project plans, budgets and reporting documentation, and protect project margins through disciplined change control.
- Contribute to pre-sales and scoping, including effort and cost estimates, RFIs and Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Act as the central point of communication between internal stakeholders, engineering teams and clients, discussing and negotiating scope as the project progresses based on implementation progress, remaining timeline and external factors.
- Maintain dependency plans across sprints, infrastructure and third-party integrations, and build working relationships with client stakeholders and executive sponsors from onboarding through to support.
- Keep project artifacts (RACI matrix, RAID log, change requests, communication plans) current and accessible, and set up governance cadences, steering committees and milestone gates that keep projects aligned with business strategy.
- Lead post-launch reviews to measure operational stability and feed learnings back into project, product and account roadmaps.
- Mentor and coach junior project managers and coordinators.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary technology projects of up to 12 months, with budgets above $500,000.
- Hands-on experience applying Agile and Scrum to manage development teams and deliver technology projects on time and within scope.
- Experience aligning delivery outcomes with client business goals, and managing change control, risk and project profitability.
- Enough technical understanding to discuss architecture, integrations and estimates with engineers, and to explain the trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of the Atlassian suite, especially Jira and Confluence, for workflows, documentation and sprint tracking.
- Fluent written and spoken English, adapting communication to audiences from engineering teams to senior stakeholders.
- Experience working in an international or distributed organisation, collaborating across time zones and cultures.
- Experience mentoring team members and sharing knowledge across a delivery team.
- Examples of process improvements introduced without formal authority, including where scope or priorities were unclear.
Preferred Skills
- Background in digital media or publishing projects.
- Experience delivering websites, apps or content platforms for sports, media or entertainment organisations.
- Experience delivering projects for sports federations, leagues or tournament organisers.
- Experience in a digital agency or professional services delivery environment.
- Experience contributing to professional services engagements, RFIs and SOW generation.
Workplace
- Offered on a UK employment contract; candidates must be based in the UK, as remote working from outside the country cannot be supported due to local employment and tax legislation.
The Application Process
The process consists of three stages, and adjustments can usually be made if any format would be difficult for you.
- Introductory conversation: an opportunity for both sides to get to know each other and to ask questions about Deltatre.
- 1-hour technical interview: a deep dive into your experience, collecting examples of the responsibilities you have handled in past roles, and a chance to explore the role in depth and ask your own questions.
- 1-hour competency-based interview: situational questions about how you handle real-life scenarios at work.
