Mid Level
Amberg, Germany

Job description
About the Role
The Warehouse / Storage Manager owns the physical operation of the Sport Signage warehouse and storage areas in Amberg, working within the Inventory & Asset Management team. The role ensures that assets and materials are received, stored, identified, picked, staged, loaded and returned accurately and safely, in line with the event priorities set through Inventory & Asset Management. The post holder maintains the physical discipline that allows the Inventory Manager's system and allocation information to remain reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clear storage zones, access routes, labelling and housekeeping standards so that frequently used event assets can be found and accessed efficiently, avoiding uncontrolled storage that undermines inventory accuracy or creates safety risks.
- Coordinate receipt of returned assets, supplier deliveries and other incoming items, check basic quantity and identity against available information, report discrepancies and place items in the correct location and status.
- Execute event pick lists and allocation instructions from Inventory Management, staging items by event, destination or loading sequence and clearly identifying priorities.
- Raise shortages, damaged items or unclear instructions before loading deadlines.
- Coordinate loading and unloading activity and provide clear handover to logistics and drivers, supporting an efficient loading sequence, secure handling and destination control.
- Ensure items are not dispatched without appropriate identification or the required records.
- Receive event returns, identify discrepancies or damage and route items for storage, repair, quarantine or further review, providing timely physical confirmation so that inventory records can be updated.
- Allocate tasks to the Warehouse Assistant and other assigned support, set expectations for accuracy, pace, safe handling and housekeeping, and identify training or additional resource needs during peak race periods.
- Maintain safe warehouse working practices, storage methods and use of handling equipment, ensuring only competent or authorised personnel operate relevant machinery and escalating defects or unsafe conditions.
- Identify opportunities to improve layout, picking routes, storage density, labelling, standard event kits and return processes, reducing avoidable handling and search time while preserving accuracy.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Warehouse, storage, logistics, event equipment or materials-handling experience.
- Experience supervising warehouse staff or coordinating daily warehouse activity.
- Strong practical organisation and attention to physical detail.
- Warehouse organisation and materials handling.
- Picking, staging, receiving and returns.
- Team leadership and task allocation.
- Inventory identification and discrepancy reporting.
- Safe use and coordination of handling equipment.
- Deadline and workload prioritisation.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with inventory or warehouse systems is advantageous.
Workplace
- Primarily Amberg-based, with occasional event and supplier travel as required.
