Job description
About the Role
The Principal, Technical Product Management is accountable for the strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end value realisation of a Product Creation and Merchandising value stream. The role translates complex business opportunities into a multi-year product vision and prioritised roadmap, applying deep technical and product expertise to evaluate solution approaches, architecture trade-offs, data requirements, and emerging technologies. The Principal Technical Product Manager works across business leaders, Global Process Owners, Engineering, Architecture, Data, and AI teams, leading through influence to align investment and delivery decisions from discovery and rapid experimentation through production, adoption, and scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the multi-year product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a high-priority enterprise value stream, translating Under Armour's strategic objectives and business opportunities into clear product priorities and outcomes.
- Own the value thesis and success measures for the product portfolio, prioritising investments based on expected business impact and continuously measuring adoption, outcomes, and realised value.
- Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Data, AI, Security, and other technology leaders to evaluate solution options and make informed trade-offs across business value, technical feasibility, scalability, risk, cost, and speed.
- Turn ambiguous or emerging opportunities into testable product hypotheses, using discovery, prototypes, pilots, data, and user feedback to determine what should be scaled, changed, or stopped.
- Connect business processes, data, platforms, and products across organisational boundaries, ensuring individual product decisions support the broader end-to-end value stream rather than optimising a single function or system.
- Serve as the senior product voice for the value stream, creating clarity around opportunities, dependencies, trade-offs, risks, and investment choices and influencing senior business and technology leaders without relying on direct authority.
- Act as a thought leader for Technical Product Management at Under Armour, establishing reusable product practices and mentoring other TPMs in areas such as product strategy, discovery, roadmaps, prioritisation, outcome measurement, and value realisation.
- Provide oversight of a dedicated squad to execute prioritised initiatives.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with typically 12 years of experience in technical product management, software development, or technical adjacent roles in product development organisations, or a Master's degree with typically 10 years of equivalent experience.
- Expertise in product strategy, discovery, multi-year roadmaps, prioritisation, outcome measurement, and value realisation.
- Depth of experience in PLM technology and AI platforms such as Palantir's Foundry, Snowflake, Agentcore, and Bedrock, matching the assigned portfolio's scope as well as supporting products that may be designed from the bottom up.
- Product Creation and Merchandising process knowledge appropriate to the scope, including product lifecycle management, line planning, assortment planning, product master data, and seasonal go-to-market readiness.
- Ability to connect investment decisions to business outcomes, adoption, and realised value across an enterprise technology portfolio.
- Deep understanding of product and software development, with the ability to evaluate architecture, integration, data requirements, and solution trade-offs.
- Deep understanding of AI prompt engineering and the application of AI, data, and automation to business workflows and product decisions.
- Product leadership, technical depth, stakeholder-centred problem solving, and Hyper Delivery Methods, with the ability to align senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
