VP, Software Development - Delivery

This senior technology leadership role sits within the CNN Technology organisation and is responsible for ensuring predictable, high-quality delivery across a portfolio of mission-critical engineering functions. The Engineering Delivery organisation spans frontline editorial support, site reliability engineering, and technical program management, ensuring CNN's products and platforms are resilient, scalable, and delivered with excellence under demanding conditions. It reports directly to the CNN Chief Technology Officer and is a key member of the senior technology leadership team.

• Lead the engineering delivery strategy across CNN Technology, ensuring alignment between the CTO's strategic priorities and day-to-day execution.
• Own end-to-end delivery outcomes across Editorial Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Technical Program Management (TPM).
• Ensure frontline Editorial Support teams provide reliable, responsive technical support for newsroom and editorial staff working in CNN systems.
• Lead SRE and Technical Program Management teams responsible for production environments, operational excellence, incident management, reliability, developer experience, and the coordinated delivery of complex products and features across engineering.
• Partner closely with central Test Engineering and QA teams to deliver quality at scale through strong testing strategies, automation, and release readiness.
• Establish and mature delivery frameworks, metrics, and governance to improve predictability, transparency, and accountability.
• Drive a culture of operational excellence, including production readiness, post-incident learning, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Editorial, Design, Data, and Commercial leaders to align delivery plans with business and journalistic goals.
• Communicate delivery status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to executive stakeholders using data-driven insights.
• Attract, develop, and retain senior engineering leaders, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing organisation.

• Extensive experience leading large, complex engineering organisations with multiple senior leaders.
• Proven track record of owning end-to-end delivery for high-impact, business-critical technology initiatives.
• Strong background in engineering delivery, operational excellence, and scaling teams in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with product, editorial, and business stakeholders in highly matrixed organisations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex technical and operational topics for executive audiences.
• Experience leading geographically distributed teams and managing significant organisational change.
• Experience with Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and modern cloud-native operating models.
• Leads by example, building trust through every interaction.

• Experience in digital media, news, streaming, or live content platforms.
• Familiarity with live and on-demand video workflows and media supply chains.
• Exposure to large-scale technical program management or portfolio delivery functions.
• Comfort representing technology delivery with senior executives and external partners.

• Based in Ottawa; provides on-the-ground leadership to on-site engineers who may be outside the reporting chain and engages with the broader engineering community, representing CNN and WBD.

• Actual salaries will vary based on job-related factors including geographic location, external market data, internal equity, skill set, experience, training, education, and/or performance.
