Job description
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering role embedded in the LightSpray production sites, acting as the critical link between engineering and live operations. The role-holder manages a growing production system to ensure the technology is robust, repeatable and scalable, and is fully embedded in day-to-day operations to make the LightSpray innovation manufacturable, reliable and scalable. The position sits within the Innovation Technology Engineering team, a multidisciplinary collective of experts that bridges the gap between digital theory and physical industrialisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the critical lead for bringing new products to life on the factory floor, setting up production for new launches by defining, applying and refining the SOPs and standards required to optimise every new model for high-volume manufacturing.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for new machine arrivals, ensuring every unit meets strict acceptance criteria both at the supplier and onsite and guaranteeing seamless installation and conformity at Tier 1 production sites.
- Manage the technical lifecycle of the LightSpray fleet, ensuring all machine updates and retrofits are executed in a well-planned, organised manner that respects manufacturing obligations, minimising downtime while maximising technical progress.
- Serve as the onsite expert for troubleshooting and continuous improvement, monitoring process parameters and reporting technical deviations to keep manufacturing quality uncompromised.
- Establish standardised work and control plans (SPC/PFMEA) to guarantee a stable, repeatable output.
- Take ownership of the physical health of the fleet, organising spare part management and defining maintenance SOPs so that critical components are onsite and care is performed with precision to safeguard machine longevity and operational readiness.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- A degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering, or a completed technical apprenticeship combined with significant, high-level work experience in a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally from a related field such as injection moulding or thermoplastic processing.
- Experience in machine deployment and FAT/SAT.
- A passion for innovation and a hands-on mentality, with direct experience across the full industrialisation lifecycle.
- Ability to travel approximately 30%.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Experience in process validation (Cpk/Ppk).
Workplace
- Onsite, fully embedded in day-to-day operations at LightSpray production sites, with significant time spent on the factory floor.
Benefits & Perks
- An environment designed to give people the tools to develop holistically — to stay active, to learn, explore and innovate.
- A supportive, team-oriented atmosphere.
- Access to personal self-care for both physical and mental well-being.
