Job description
About the Role
This role is pivotal in scaling the experimentation function within the Sportsbook team, owning the experimentation strategy and execution for Generosity while leading a small team of analysts and remaining hands-on with key tests and insights. It sits at the centre of how the team learns and adapts, working closely with business stakeholders to define what should be tested and partnering with the data science team to ensure best practice. The postholder also contributes to key strategic initiatives that support FanDuel's overall growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and prioritise the experimentation roadmap across the entire generosity portfolio, including investment mix, offer mix, loyalty programme optimisation, acquisition and other initiatives, making disciplined trade-offs to maximise learning and business impact.
- Stay hands-on with key experiments, including those focused on generosity personalisation, and proactively guide working teams across Commercial, Customer Marketing and Data Science through the design, execution and analysis of transformational experiments.
- Own the feedback loop from experiment design to business action, ensuring insights are translated into stakeholder decisions and partnering with other analytics teams on continuous hypothesis development.
- Manage and develop a team of analysts, coaching them on experimental design, stakeholder communication and analytical rigour, and ensuring best practices and methodologies are applied to all generosity experiments without sacrificing speed.
- Act as a key stakeholder for experimentation tooling development, articulating the team's needs from the platform and identifying gaps and requirements.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership so that experimentation insights directly inform strategy and business priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Company to meet evolving business needs.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in experimentation, analytics, commercial strategy or similar quantitative roles, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or senior individual contributor role.
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven track record of designing, executing and analysing experiments at scale, with demonstrated ability to drive business impact through data-driven approaches.
- Strong knowledge of experimentation statistics, including advanced experimental and quasi-experimental methods such as synthetic controls, propensity matching and reinforcement learning methods.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL, statistical programming languages such as Python, data platforms such as Databricks, and responsible use of AI.
- Genuine passion for sports, sports betting or the gaming industry, with an understanding of what drives fan engagement and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Demonstrated excellence at people leadership, including hiring, coaching and developing high-performing teams, and the ability to create psychological safety and foster a culture of curiosity and rigour.
- Comfort shifting between hands-on work and strategic leadership, moving fluidly between technical work such as designing experiments and analysing data and high-level stakeholder communication.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly to both technical and business audiences and drive alignment on priorities across teams.
- A can-do attitude and bias toward action, with comfort reaching out across teams to keep momentum.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
Workplace
- Hybrid working arrangement.
Benefits & Perks
- Array of health plans to choose from, some as low as $0 per paycheck, including programmes for fertility and family planning, mental health support and fitness benefits.
- Medical, vision and dental insurance.
- Life insurance and disability insurance.
- Generous paid time off (PTO and sick leave), plus 14 paid company holidays and paid sick time in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Annual bonus and long-term incentive opportunities based on performance, and eligibility for short-term or long-term incentive compensation including cash bonuses and stock programme participation.
