Site Reliability Engineer

This position sits within adidas Digital Ecom Tech, in the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) capability. SRE at adidas ensures the stability and reliability of products built and run on large-scale, distributed systems, which in turn provide an exceptional, uninterrupted user experience across Web and Mobile platforms. • Lead the design, implementation and build of large-scale, distributed systems, ensuring the availability, scalability, performance and efficiency of systems and software components.
• Drive the continuous integration and continuous deployment strategy, combining velocity, availability, quality and security.
• Automate processes to prevent problem recurrence, reduce time to recover and optimise engineering time.
• Continuously improve the time to detect issues through better observability and advanced alerting implementations.
• Define and iterate on SLIs, SLOs and SLAs as part of the services lifecycle.
• Participate in on-call incident technical support.
• Work on technical resolution for incidents, identifying technical root cause and creating a backlog to avoid repeated incidents in future, including post-mortems to arrive at remedial actions.
• Help define standards and adopt new technologies.

• Strong awareness and experience of working with Site Reliability Engineering principles.
• 5 to 7 years of IT experience, with 3 years in a relevant area (DevOps / SRE); 7 years for the Senior Software Engineer position.
• 2 years of proven working experience leading a team (for senior roles).
• College or university degree with a focus on IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proficient spoken and written command of English.
• Aptitude to be a good team player and the desire to learn and implement new technologies.
• Experience writing software in an object-oriented programming language (Java, Node.js, Go or Python), with the ability to adapt to, learn and work with different languages and frameworks.
• Experience with large-scale, complex distributed systems.
• Passion for SRE/DevOps.
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.

• Experience with REST APIs, API integration and web services.
• Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure or Google).
• Experience with distributed message queues (Kafka, AWS SQS or RabbitMQ).
• Experience with containerised environments (Kubernetes, Docker or OpenShift).
• Experience with CI/CD build pipelines (Jenkins, CircleCI, ArgoCD or GitHub).
• Experience with monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Elasticsearch or APM).
• Experience establishing service levels across teams and operating with them.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible).
• Networking concepts (SSH, FTP, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, CDN).
• Experience integrating AI/ML-driven tooling into traditional CI/CD and production infrastructure to enable automated event correlation, predictive alerting and self-healing systems.
