Cloud Platform Engineer

It is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, implementing and operating scalable, reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud landing zones. The role works with cloud service providers such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure to deploy and optimise cloud resources.

• Design and implement scalable cloud landing zone solutions of moderate complexity on GCP or Azure, following the established architectural framework.
• Deploy and manage applications independently on cloud platforms, and assess the impact of changes on existing cloud solutions before implementation.
• Collaborate with the existing Cloud Infrastructure Team and cross-functional teams to ensure effective cloud integration.
• Manage and improve the security, reliability and cost-effectiveness of cloud infrastructure, continuously monitoring and optimising resources for efficiency and performance.
• Develop and implement security measures to protect data and applications, and support cloud governance, security and operational best practices.
• Implement automation strategies using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Diagnose and resolve cloud environment issues of moderate complexity, and support the ongoing operation, maintenance and improvement of cloud platforms.
• Document technical concepts clearly to support understanding among team members and stakeholders.
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure and platform teams to support cloud adoption and operational excellence.
• Contribute to team knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.

• 4-8 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or DevOps roles.
• Hands-on cloud engineering experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Understanding of cloud-native architecture principles, including containerisation (Kubernetes, Docker) and microservices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible for provisioning and configuration management.
• Knowledge of cloud security practices, identity and access management, and data protection standards.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for continuous delivery and automated testing.
• Monitoring and observability skills using Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Operations, Coralogix, Datadog, or equivalent tools relevant to your cloud platform.
• Ability to work independently on engineering tasks of moderate complexity, take ownership of delivery, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to document technical concepts for team members and stakeholders.
• Understanding of landing zone principles and the relevant architectural framework: Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) for Azure or Google FAST for GCP.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.

• Relevant Azure and/or GCP certifications are preferred.
