Fleet Manager (Sport Signage)
Mid Level
Amberg, Germanyhybrid
Full time
Job description
About the Role
Sits within Sport Signage's Central Operations / Logistics team and provides dedicated ownership of Sport Signage vehicles, including vehicles used for company operations and vehicles rented to Formula 1 or other clients. It ensures the fleet is visible, compliant, available, maintained and allocated effectively to operational and client requirements. The position works closely with Logistics, event Operations Managers, Finance/Commercial and external vehicle providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an accurate register of owned, leased and relevant rented vehicles, tracking location, status, availability, assigned user/event, key dates and known issues, and provide reliable fleet information for operational planning.
- Plan routine servicing, inspections, repairs, tyres and other readiness activity, minimising vehicle downtime during critical event periods and ensuring known defects are recorded, prioritised and resolved before deployment where required.
- Translate approved event and client requirements into vehicle allocation plans, coordinating handovers, returns, keys, documentation and condition checks, and identifying shortages early to recommend rental or substitution options.
- Coordinate approved rental providers, maintaining clear records of bookings, extensions, returns and associated documentation, and monitor provider service and vehicle suitability while escalating recurring issues.
- Maintain records of damage, incidents, repair status and supporting information, coordinating inspections and repair actions and providing information to relevant internal stakeholders to ensure damage is not lost between users, events and providers.
- Coordinate vehicle availability with the Logistics Coordinator so transport and event movement plans are realistic, distinguishing vehicle ownership/maintenance from shipment planning while keeping both functions aligned.
- Maintain required vehicle documentation and service/inspection records, escalating specialist legal or regulatory questions to qualified providers or the Risk/Compliance function.
- Maintain visibility of rental, lease, maintenance, repair, fuel and avoidable damage cost drivers where data is available, identifying under-utilised vehicles, repeated emergency rentals and opportunities to improve fleet planning.
- Provide clear handover expectations and reporting routes for defects/damage, ensuring users understand basic return, cleanliness, refuelling/charging and documentation requirements where applicable.
- Develop standard vehicle allocation, condition-check and maintenance processes, and use fleet data to improve availability, cost and operational reliability.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience managing vehicles, rentals, fleet operations, transport assets or a comparable operational asset base.
- Strong administrative control of records, dates and handovers.
- Experience coordinating external service providers and resolving time-critical vehicle issues.
- Fleet administration and asset visibility.
- Maintenance scheduling and provider coordination.
- Vehicle allocation and handover control.
- Damage/incident record keeping.
- Cost awareness and operational problem solving.
Preferred Skills
- Motorsport or event fleet experience is advantageous.
Workplace
- Can be based in either the Amberg, Germany or Orpington, London office.
- Hybrid working policy: 3 days in the office.
- Travel as required.
- The German-language version indicates the role is predominantly based in Amberg.
