Job description
About the Role
This role sits within Avalanche, a Warner Bros. Games studio, joining a team of industry veterans working on a new online multiplayer RPG. The position operates at the intersection of player empathy and analytical rigour, shaping product strategy, roadmap, telemetry, and live operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with other disciplines to craft features from concept through release and into post-launch iteration, owning outcomes at every stage.
- Translate high-level business strategy and player insights into clear, prioritised roadmaps, and partner with leadership to define short- and long-term product vision and trade-offs.
- Write PRDs, feature specs, and briefs that empower the team for clear alignment.
- Serve as the connective tissue between design, engineering, QA, and data, leading indirect reports and collaborators toward shared outcomes and facilitating decisions among stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Communicate progress, risks, and pivots proactively to leadership and across the team, and own the business outcomes of features in your area.
- Design and define telemetry schemas such as instrumentation plans, event taxonomies, and data contracts in close collaboration with engineering and central data teams.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports that surface actionable insights across retention, engagement, monetisation, and feature health.
- Define success metrics and KPIs for every feature before it ships, conduct post-mortems, deep-dive analyses, and market research to identify player behaviour patterns, funnel breakdowns, growth levers, and competitive trends.
- Translate product questions into analytics tasks, set clear hypotheses, interpret results with rigour and nuance, and champion a culture of data-informed decision-making across the team.
- Partner with other disciplines to craft the live ops calendar for your feature area, including seasonal content, in-game events, balance updates, and economy tuning
- Monitor live service health, triage issues rapidly, analyse live data for retention risks and engagement opportunities, and balance current player needs with the long-term health of the game's economy and community.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 7+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead PM capacity.
- Shipped or operated a live game, including navigating launch intensity and/or the ongoing discipline of live operations.
- Active gamer invested in the online RPG and/or cozy genres.
- Deep, hands-on experience designing telemetry systems, defining what to instrument, why it matters, and how it gets implemented.
- Proven ability to build and own dashboards, not just consume them.
- Strong track record of building and maintaining product roadmaps in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment across design, engineering, creatives, and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical foundation: comfortable in SQL, fluent with raw data, and skilled at forming hypotheses from ambiguous signals.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, able to explain the “why” clearly and align diverse teams around a shared product vision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience taking a product from concept all the way through live ops.
- Console game development experience.
- Experience with various monetisation and platform-specific constraints.
- Familiarity with player-facing economy design, battle passes, seasonal content systems, and in-game currencies.
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and experiment design at scale.
- Background working with sophisticated monetisation ecosystems, navigating diverse player lifecycles and spending behaviours.
- Thrives by talking to players, not just about players.
- Treats dashboards as living documents, not reporting obligations.
- Pushes back when strategy does not serve the player, using data.
- Gets genuinely excited debating whether a new mechanic will land with the core community.
- Proactively finds, frames, and walks in with solutions rather than waiting to be told what the problem is.
- Sets a high bar for self and others, exercising a growth mindset and not letting past successes hinder future growth.
Salary
- Actual salaries will vary based on job-related factors including geographic location, external market data, internal equity, skill set, experience, training, education, and/or performance.
- Base pay is one component of total compensation; other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
Benefits & Perks
- Health insurance coverage
- Employee wellness program
- Life and disability insurance
- Retirement savings plan
- Paid holidays and sick time and vacation
