Job description
About the Role
The Sports Data & Odds Engineering organisation develops, delivers and operates a portfolio of products powering Sportradar's global sports data and betting ecosystem, processing millions of real-time events every day for media companies, sports federations, betting operators and consumer apps across 120 countries. The development teams based in Warsaw contribute to multiple products and initiatives across these domains, building distributed systems that operate at global scale and deliver mission-critical services available 24/7. This role suits an engineer who has already delivered real software and wants to keep raising their game, working under load and scale that most engineers only read about.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-performance Java services for sports data and betting products running 24/7 at global scale.
- Work across the full stack of features — design, implementation, testing and production — with support from the team.
- Contribute to cloud-native solutions on AWS, learning how distributed systems behave under real load.
- Collaborate on architecture and design discussions, contributing a perspective from day one.
- Write clean, well-tested code and actively improve it through peer review and feedback.
- Develop deep domain expertise in one of the most technically demanding real-time environments in the industry.
- Work closely with senior engineers, embrace TDD practices and grow through pair programming and collaborative problem-solving.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional software development experience, including delivered production Java software.
- Has already built and delivered production software and is ready to take ownership of features and services with support from the team.
- Writes clean, maintainable, well-tested code and takes pride in it.
- Understands object-oriented design principles and knows when to apply them.
- Comfortable working in an agile team and communicating clearly with engineers and stakeholders.
- Genuinely curious about the technology, the domain and the people they work with.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with AWS, Kafka, Docker or Kubernetes is a bonus, though appetite to learn carries just as much weight.
Workplace
- Fully office-based role, with in-person collaboration valued for knowledge sharing, fast decision-making and team connection.
Benefits & Perks
- Collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world, with engineering offices in Europe, Asia and the US.
- Ability to shape your own workday and career via a clearly defined professional and personal development plan.
- Opportunity to work with the senior leadership team and develop within an inspiring and fast-growing company.
- Vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants.
- Flexible working hours.
The Application Process
The recruitment process consists of several stages, from an initial screening through to feedback and a possible offer.
- Initial screening: a brief conversation with a Talent Acquisition Partner to review your background, experience and expectations.
- Technical task: a take-home coding assignment designed to reflect daily work, completed at your convenience.
- Technical interview: an in-depth discussion of the submitted coding task, including a review of your thought process, live coding exercises and a system design discussion tailored to the level of the role.
- Cultural fit interview: a conversation with senior management to assess the ability to work in a matrix organization and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
- Final step: receive feedback and, if successful, an offer.
