Job description
About the Role
Sits within Hudl's Core Video & Data team, where quality work supports the platform athletes and coaches rely on to train, compete and improve. The team builds systems that power how Hudl understands sport at scale, from identifying players and teams across thousands of leagues to processing the moments that become highlights, stats and analysis. These services sit at the centre of Hudl's platform and become shared capabilities used across its ecosystem, powering experiences for teams, athletes and fans around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the quality strategy by using customer and system understanding to build a risk-based testing approach tailored to the video and data platform architecture.
- Measure quality to help define when a project is truly complete and prove improvements with real, data-backed results.
- Lead quality in a cross-functional squad across Engineering, Product, Design and Scrum, guiding quality-focused conversations in sprint ceremonies.
- Partner with stakeholders to explain how defects affect users and advocate for the right priority on backlog defects before they enter a sprint.
- Test at scale and automate by aligning processes with development speed and making informed decisions on what, how and when to automate versus when to rely on manual testing.
- Lead large testing efforts, bringing knowledge of users into every test plan.
- Coach and elevate the team by using technical and quality expertise to guide others and raise the team's overall bar.
- Act as the quality point person, influencing and challenging teams to incorporate best practices in everything they do.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Deep full-stack testing experience alongside an in-depth knowledge of automation.
- Quality leadership: understands quality in the big picture, has successfully led quality initiatives and projects, and knows what success looks like at the project level.
- User-focused: thinks critically about the user experience, ensuring the testing approach adapts seamlessly to match user workflows and exceed expectations.
- Risk-aware: can design a testing approach that effectively reduces risk, with sharp attention to detail to catch what others miss.
Preferred Skills
- Commercial experience with Playwright is a major plus, as it is one of Hudl's core frameworks.
- A STEM degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent) is a plus.
Workplace
- Time spent collaborating with teammates in-office will be a regular part of how you work.
- Applicants within commuting distance of London are being considered.
- Expected to work more days in-office than remote, with the freedom to coordinate a specific in-office schedule with the team.
Salary
- Starting salaries will typically fall near the middle of this range.
- Compensation decisions are based on an individual's experience, skills and education in line with internal pay equity practices.
- Is eligible for a long-term incentive (LTI) award.
- Any bonuses awarded are based on individual and company performance, paid at Hudl's discretion.
Benefits & Perks
- Flexibility in work life to support work-life harmony, including flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and remote work options.
- Paid sabbatical every five years to unplug and recharge.
- Open, honest culture where employees are trusted from day one and have autonomy to own their work and try new ideas.
- Resources and opportunities for professional development and career growth.
- Offices designed with employees in mind, with tech provided for office or remote work.
- Depending on location, medical and retirement benefits.
- Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support mental health.
