The role works with NHL.com International teams, IMG Digital colleagues, hosts, presenters, creators and on-camera talent to coordinate edits, approvals and publishing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end edit and delivery process for the NHL Europe and NHL Deutschland YouTube channels, from brief through to final export, quality control and delivery.
- Edit long-form and short-form content, including features, interviews, documentaries, archive-led stories, player content and game-related edits tailored for YouTube, including Shorts.
- Support live streams and live or near-live content activity, including the preparation of assets, cutdowns and supporting video around games, events and major NHL moments.
- Use motion graphics, animation and visual effects to aid compelling storytelling.
- Create and manage German and English subtitles, captions and on-screen text, ensuring language accuracy, timing, readability and accessibility across long-form and short-form edits.
- Source and select clips independently from approved NHL footage, archive, supplied materials, creator content and other rights-cleared sources, maintaining clear provenance and following agreed rights workflows.
- Work with NHL.com International teams to coordinate edits, footage, content production, approvals, delivery requirements and publishing priorities across the international operation.
- Work with hosts, presenters, creators and on-camera talent where required, shaping edits that bring out personality, clarity and audience value.
- Maintain clean, organised and repeatable post-production workflows, including media management, version control, naming conventions, exports, backups and archiving project files.
- Contribute ideas for new formats, series and editorial approaches that can build repeat viewing and strengthen the NHL's video presence in Europe and Germany, and stay current with YouTube video formats, conventions, audience behaviour and emerging platform features.
Required Experience & Qualifications

- High-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- A strong portfolio showing long-form and short-form editing across digital and social platforms in the form of a showreel or website.
- Professional-level German, with strong written and spoken English; German fluency is essential for this role.
- Practical experience with subtitles, captions and on-screen text in German and English, including timing, quality control and accessibility considerations.
- Strong editorial judgement, storytelling ability, pacing and sound design, with an eye for moments that make sports videos compelling.
- Experience with both 16:9 long-form video and 9:16 vertical short-form content, with an understanding of how to repackage longer stories into shorter clips.
- Ability to source, review and select footage independently, including archive and supplied footage, while respecting rights, approvals and usage restrictions.
- Experience with audio mixing, colour correction, basic grading, proxies, codecs and delivery specifications.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-led environment where priorities can change quickly.
- A genuine passion for ice hockey and strong interest in the NHL, its players, teams, history and international fanbase.
- Strong understanding of pacing, hooks, retention, watchability, aspect ratios, safe areas, thumbnails, titles and opening sequences.
- Ability to meet short turnarounds and respond quickly to live, reactive and near-live gameplay.
- Fast, calm and decisive when working to short deadlines or responding to live and reactive opportunities.
- Creative, curious and able to make strong editorial decisions without losing sight of the brief.
