Job description
About the Role
Formula E is a premium entertainment, technology, and city festival experience. The role leads high-level discussions with host markets, tourism boards, municipal authorities, and internal teams including Brand Marketing, Ticketing & Race Promotion, and Host Cities to translate wider marketing campaigns into high-impact earned media, viral cultural moments, and direct box-office conversion. The postholder acts as a strategic, forward-thinking partner, bringing a relentless growth mindset and looking beyond motorsport for inspiration across fashion, music, tech, and entertainment to continuously elevate race support and city marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and lead proactive GTM earned media frameworks across all championship markets, championing a two-phase campaign model: building early cultural fame and anticipation before ticket launches, followed by commercial, ticket-driving publicity up to race week.
- Conceptualise fresh, innovative city activations outside traditional motorsport and lead strategic dialogue with host city partners, municipal authorities, tourism boards, and circuit promoters to position each ePrix as a marquee cultural spectacle.
- Act as the dedicated communications integration partner for Marketing and Commercial teams to ensure PR directly accelerates ticket sales, fan conversion, and brand awareness through cohesive full-funnel execution.
- Identify emerging cultural trends and propose ambitious, high-impact concepts to create city buzz, earned media moments, and shareable brand stories long before the cars hit the track.
- Pitch, secure, and direct non-endemic Tier-1 lifestyle, business, entertainment, and tech coverage to reach audiences outside the traditional racing bubble.
- Oversee and hold accountable a roster of regional PR agencies across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and emerging race territories, owning procurement and tender processes and setting clear KPIs tied to market awareness, sentiment, and ticket acquisition.
- Oversee local-market editorial narratives and rights-holder PR synergies to ensure broadcast and media rights partners are supported locally ahead of each race weekend.
- Line manage, mentor, and empower the Communications Executive, and travel on a rotational basis to manage race promotion execution on-site during race weekends.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Significant progressive experience leading high-profile communications, consumer PR, or event promotion within international sports, entertainment, live events, or major consumer lifestyle brands.
- Demonstrated mastery of commercial go-to-market campaigns where earned media directly drives audience growth, event buzz, and ticket acquisition or box-office conversion.
- A proactive self-starter with a creative and strategic mindset who looks outside motorsport, including fashion, music, and tech, for inspiration, pitching ambitious concepts that challenge legacy thinking and create cultural fame.
- Proven capability to command strategic discussions with external host city stakeholders, tourism leaders, municipal authorities, and executive leadership.
- Deep experience managing regional PR agencies across multiple continents, languages, and time zones, including running formal RFPs and agency pitch tenders.
- Proven personal network and track record landing features across lifestyle, design, tech, business, and mainstream city entertainment outlets.
- Passionate people manager capable of coaching junior team members, thriving under fast-paced live event conditions, and travelling rotationally on-site.
Preferred Skills
- Multilingual proficiency in Spanish, German, French, Chinese, or Japanese.
Workplace
- Hybrid role requiring three days a week in the Hammersmith London office.
Benefits & Perks
- 25 days' annual leave, birthday day off, and wellbeing leave
- Opportunity to extend your stay if travelling for a race event
- Health Cash Plan and access to the Aviva Digital Workplace app
- Enhanced Parental Leave
- Flexible Bank Holidays
- Paid volunteer and carer's leave
- Cycle to Work and Electric Car Scheme
- Formula E store discount
- Regular social events and employee working groups
