About the Role
Leads a team of software engineers building and running test automation and AI-powered developer tools that help EA SPORTS FC teams understand game quality. It combines people leadership with delivery ownership and reports to the Technical Director. The role partners with development, quality, production and live operations teams across Vancouver and Bucharest.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and elevate an engineering team by hiring, onboarding and developing engineers through regular 1:1s, useful feedback, performance management and career planning.
- Lead technical execution with clear ownership, achievable plans and a sustainable workload across locations and time zones.
- Turn partner priorities into delivery commitments, adapting plans as needs evolve, following through on milestones, and communicating risks, dependencies and obstacles early to technical and non-technical partners.
- Partner with the Technical Director and engineers to review designs, explain decisions and trade-offs, and resolve technical roadblocks.
- Take initiative to improve engineering practices across design, testing, continuous integration and operational support using quality, reliability and adoption metrics.
- Track relevant technology trends and developments, guiding the team in evaluating and adopting AI-assisted workflows and engineering tools.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, including hands-on engineering and technical team leadership.
- 2+ years of direct people management of software engineers, including coaching, performance management and career development.
- Proven success spearheading the delivery of automation, developer tooling or comparable platforms, owning prioritisation, capacity planning and complex cross-team dependencies.
- Experience in C#, C++, or Python, software design, testing, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) workflows.
Workplace
- Hybrid, at least 3 days a week, from the office in Burnaby, BC.
