The team builds end-to-end solutions that transform raw advertising data into actionable business insights and creates sophisticated sport audience segments. The role is a senior data engineering position focused on taking ownership of complex, multi-faceted data projects as the organisation scales rapidly.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop backend APIs and microservices in Python or Go.
- Manage user-facing dashboards that visualise complex data insights.
- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to detect data quality issues, manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform, and implement CI/CD best practices.
- Maintain high coding standards across data processing systems.
- Lead large-scale data projects from requirements gathering through delivery, bridging technical implementation with business requirements.
- Mentor team members and present technical concepts to stakeholders while constructively challenging requirements.
- Take complete ownership of complex data engineering projects, ensuring high availability and accuracy for internal stakeholders and external clients, championing clean code principles, and serving as a knowledge leader.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineering experience with a proven track record of leading complex data projects from conception to delivery.
- Exceptional communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams with analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders.
- Very strong hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, etc.) and proficiency with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
- Strong experience with Python for building data processing services and APIs, plus expert-level SQL for data processing and analytics.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines with automation best practices for data systems.
- Strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-documented code with comprehensive testing and deep knowledge of analytics/reporting requirements.
- Experience designing scalable data architectures, data modelling, and optimising data processing workflows.
- Experience creating and managing analytics dashboards in BI tools (Tableau, Qlik Sense, Quicksuite, Power BI) and data visualisation solutions to present complex insights to stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with contextual and prompt engineering with GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar AI assistants.
Workplace
- Fully office-based role, with flexible working hours offered.
- In-person collaboration, knowledge sharing, fast decision-making, and team connection are valued.
- Working together onsite is seen as a key driver of innovation, learning, and success.
- Certain exemptions may apply depending on location.
Benefits & Perks
- Collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world, with engineering offices in Europe, Asia, and the US.
- Ability to shape your own workday and career via a clearly defined professional and personal development plan.
- Opportunity to work with senior leadership, develop yourself, and build your career within an inspiring and fast-growing company and digital sports environment.
- A vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants.
- A company culture that promotes social aspects, sports, physical exercise, and fun.
- Innovative and cross-team challenges such as ShipIt, office sports tournaments in darts and table tennis, and unique beer brewing competitions.
- Retirement pension and insurance plan.

The Application Process
The recruitment process includes an initial screening, technical theoretical and coding interviews, a system design interview, and final steps.
- Initial screening: a quick chat with the Talent Acquisition Partner to understand your background and expectations.
- Technical theoretical interview: 60 minutes to discuss your technical skills at a theoretical level with the technical team.
- Technical coding interview: 60 minutes of live coding, assessing the candidate's approach, clean code, and thinking process rather than the end result.
