Job description
About the Role
The Stock Controller takes a hands-on role in managing stock across The O2 Arena, working across bars, concessions, hospitality areas, kitchens, cellars and stores. The position involves carrying out regular stock counts, investigating variances, maintaining accurate records and ensuring corrective actions are completed. While some office-based reporting and analysis is required, the role is primarily operational and involves working closely with venue teams to ensure food, beverage and consumable stock is accurately controlled and available.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out weekly stock counts across food, beverage and consumables throughout the venue.
- Investigate stock variances by comparing physical counts with system records, carrying out recounts and identifying root causes.
- Work closely with operational teams to implement corrective actions and improve stock accuracy and ownership.
- Conduct regular spot checks and audits across outlets, stores, deliveries, transfers, requisitions and stock movements.
- Ensure shortages, damages, credits, waste and discrepancies are accurately recorded, escalated and managed.
- Maintain high storage standards, including organisation, labelling, stock rotation, segregation, safe stacking and date-code compliance.
- Focus on reducing avoidable waste, loss and unexplained variances, particularly across high-value and fast-moving stock.
- Maintain accurate stock data, trackers and audit-ready documentation, using stock systems, POS data and Excel to identify trends.
- Support continuous improvement projects, including stock resets, process improvements and digital reporting solutions, while collaborating across Operations, Finance, Procurement and Logistics.
- Maintain high Health & Safety, food hygiene and personal presentation standards, while promoting a professional, respectful and supportive environment.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Practical stocktake experience, with confidence working hands-on across outlets, kitchens, stores and storage areas.
- Highly organised, numerically confident and detail-focused, with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Able to analyse stock data, identify trends and variances, and turn findings into clear, practical actions.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships and constructively challenge poor practice.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using stock, inventory, POS and digital reporting systems.
- Good understanding of food and beverage stock processes, including receiving, transfers, requisitions, waste and reconciliation.
- Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and relevant compliance requirements.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Power BI, Power Apps or Power Automate.
- Experience in stock control, inventory management, hospitality operations or a similar environment, ideally within a high-volume or multi-outlet operation.
Salary
- Competitive salary with bonus and full company benefits.
Benefits & Perks
- 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, birthday off, and a holiday purchase scheme.
- Healthcare and wellbeing cover including Aviva Digicare and Medicash (dental, optical and therapy treatments).
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme for mental health support.
- Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave, two days' additional leave after returning from maternity leave, a day off for a baby's first birthday, and enhanced family leave.
- Shopping, entertainment and travel discounts, 20% off Nuffield Health and 10% off PureGym memberships.
- Pension scheme, life assurance and preferred rates on salary finance products.
- Professional subscriptions, ongoing training and structured career pathways.
- Meals on duty included.
