Job description
About the Role
This role sits within the Sportsbook Product Design team, which owns everything at the intersection of the FanDuel Sportsbook app and the customers who use it. The designer partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Analytics, and other design disciplines to understand customer needs, define what success looks like, and deliver thoughtful, customer-centred design from discovery through launch and optimisation. The position is hired across four levels — Product Designer, Senior Product Designer, Lead Product Designer, and Principal UI Designer — with the level and compensation calibrated at offer based on demonstrated scope, impact, and craft excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the delivery of design outcomes for an area of the product, from problem framing through prototyping, implementation support, launch, and post-launch iteration.
- Create intuitive user flows, wireframes, prototypes, visual designs, interaction details, and implementation documentation.
- Explore multiple directions and make clear recommendations based on evidence, customer insight, trade-offs, and product impact.
- Contribute to and evolve the design system by identifying gaps, proposing improvements, and designing scalable components or patterns where appropriate.
- Represent the voice of the customer through research, user feedback, analytics, and competitive analysis.
- Lead discovery and experimentation — usability testing, A/B tests, and design explorations — to de-risk initiatives and refine solutions, using qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and validate hypotheses.
- Define clear product direction and success metrics, connecting the work to team and business priorities.
- Track and report objectively on design impact and outcomes, and recommend pivots grounded in evidence.
- Partner proactively with Product Management, Engineering, Research, Analytics, and other design disciplines to define goals, evaluate trade-offs, and align on direction.
- Facilitate workshops, design critiques, and stakeholder conversations that drive clarity and alignment.
- Build and maintain domain expertise on the product, market, and competitive landscape.
- Apply AI-assisted workflows thoughtfully across discovery, ideation, prototyping, synthesis, and documentation, and independently evaluate outputs for accuracy, usability, accessibility, design-system fit, and product relevance.
- Perform other such duties as assigned by the Company.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- A track record of shipping thoughtful, customer-centred products.
- Strong craft skills across interaction design, visual design, systems thinking, prototyping, and accessibility.
- Hands-on fluency with modern design practices, design thinking, and evidence-based decision making.
- Strong analytical skills, with comfort using research, analytics, and feedback to inform and validate design decisions.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence without formal authority.
- Deep customer empathy and a commitment to accessibility and inclusive design.
- A strong sense of ownership, a bias toward execution, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
- 3+ years of experience in product design or a closely related role to start.
- The scope owned, the strategic influence carried, and the craft leadership expected grow with the level hired into.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience in sports betting, iGaming, or another fast-moving, regulated consumer technology domain.
- Familiarity with front-end development concepts (React Native, JavaScript, component-based UI) to support stronger engineering collaboration.
Workplace
- Hybrid working arrangement.
Benefits & Perks
- An array of health plans to choose from, some as low as $0 per paycheck, including programmes for fertility and family planning, mental health support, and fitness benefits.
- Generous paid time off (PTO and sick leave).
- Annual bonus and long-term incentive opportunities based on performance.
- 401k with up to a 5% match.
- Commuter benefits.
- Pet insurance.
- Medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance.
- 14 paid company holidays.
- Paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
- Eligibility for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and stock programme participation.
- Benefits differ across location, role, and level.
The Application Process
is kept open on a rolling basis so the team can meet and bring on outstanding design talent as it is found, and candidates are considered across multiple levels.
- Candidates are considered at multiple levels, with the level under consideration communicated early in the process.
- The interview process is used to explore the right fit and align the successful candidate to the biggest opportunities on the team.
