The role is the operational decision-maker at venue level and the single point of coordination between the local operator, appointed security provider, local authorities, Event Directors and internal functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead security, accreditation and access control delivery on site from build through race days to breakdown, working to the agreed Concept of Operations and posture framework.
- Run daily security coordination and briefing rhythm with the appointed provider, local operator, Event Directors and internal functions, and lead onboarding, tasking and milestone tracking for Event Security Managers to align with the 'One Event Plan' standard.
- Own venue zone and access point integrity, including ingress flow, search and screening, zone segregation, VIP and athlete routes, and lock-down of restricted areas, while coordinating with crowd safety, medical, traffic management
- Fire engineering and stewarding to protect egress and emergency access.
- Translate the Security Strategy into event-specific operational plans, staffing models and access control designs, and consolidate event-level risk assessments into a single global risk register with consistent scoring and evidence grading.
- Implement and enforce the organisation's security policies, procedures and minimum operating standards across all host cities and suppliers, and engage local authorities, police, fire and licensing bodies alongside the Head of Security to confirm conditions and approvals.
- Own the pre- and post-event documentation sets, including Concept of Operations, security operating procedures, access control matrix, accreditation and zone plan, assignment instructions, briefing packs, emergency and evacuation annexes, incident logs, staffing reconciliation, debrief reports
- Lessons learned and risk register updates.
- Maintain and rehearse the escalation matrix, act as initial security incident commander on site, coordinate with medical, safety officers and emergency services, and ensure incidents, near misses and credential breaches are logged, investigated and closed out with corrective actions.
- Ensure accreditation permissions, zone logic and physical access control are aligned across every venue and system, overseeing pass production, VIP credential control, entry and exit scanning, reconciliation of who is on site, and approval of process manuals, user guides and briefing material.
- Manage procurement, tendering, contract performance and budgets for host-city security providers, including forecasting, reconciliation, cost control, supplier pricing challenges, staffing assumption reviews, performance reviews and evidence-based uplift requests to the Head of Security.
- Deliver post-event debriefs, KPI reporting and financial reconciliation within the required working days, track performance trends across the season, provide the Head of Security with a daily situation report, and feed lessons learned into future events and season-wide standards.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Experience leading on-site delivery and coordination of security, accreditation and access control operations at major events, from build through race days to breakdown.
- Experience managing contracted security providers, including deployment decisions, redeployment, performance intervention and verification of staffing against contracted numbers.
- Experience acting as initial incident commander at venue level, with knowledge of escalation matrices, incident investigation and contingency testing.
- Experience developing and maintaining controlled security documentation, including Concept of Operations, access control matrices, accreditation and zone plans, assignment instructions, briefing packs and post-event debrief reports.
- Experience managing procurement, tendering, contract performance and budgets for security, accreditation and access control, including forecasting, reconciliation and cost control.
- Knowledge of GDPR and data privacy obligations relating to accreditation and access control data.
- Ability to coordinate with internal functions such as Event Directors, Event Services, Accreditation, Athlete and Team Services, Commercial and Hospitality, Broadcast, Legal and Data Protection, and external stakeholders including local event operators, security providers, police
- Fire and licensing authorities, venue owners, traffic management and stewarding contractors.
- Ability to operate within approved staffing models, posture and budget envelopes, escalating strategic sign-off, budget or resource uplifts, high residual risk, serious incidents, contract awards and season-wide standard changes to the Head of Security.
Workplace
