eLearning Developer, Articulate Rise Contractror

CrossFit is seeking a contract eLearning Developer to audit, improve, and rebuild its library of existing online courses. The role involves evaluating 13 courses, ranging from two to eight credits, to make them more engaging, effective, and current for coaches around the world. The developer will diagnose what works and what does not, design solutions, and build them in Articulate Rise 360.

• Audit each course from the learner's perspective, evaluating structure, pacing, engagement, assessment, accessibility, and overall learner experience.
• Flag outdated content, inconsistencies, and gaps against current CrossFit methodology and brand standards for subject-matter review.
• Deliver findings and recommendations document for each course using the provided template, with prioritised, practical recommendations a non-designer can act on, and recommend whether each course needs targeted updates or a full rebuild with an estimate of effort.
• Update existing Rise 360 builds or rebuild courses from scratch based on approved recommendations.
• Design interactions, knowledge checks, scenarios, and assessments that reinforce learning and connect directly to real coaching practice.
• Integrate video, graphics, and other media effectively, identify new asset needs for the team, and build courses that meet accessibility standards and perform well on desktop and mobile.
• Test published courses in the learning management system to confirm tracking, completion, and credit reporting work as intended.
• Review full content packages for new courses and recommend the best delivery approach, including structure, sequencing, interactivity, media, and assessment strategy
• Turn subject-matter expert content into clear, engaging online learning and identify where content needs to be added, cut, or reworked
• Build new courses in Rise 360 as the catalogue grows.
• Build courses with translation in mind, keeping text, media, and interactions easy to localise; prepare courses for the localisation workflow and support the team as translated versions are implemented and reviewed.
• Collaborate with the EDU Content team to keep courses aligned with CrossFit methodology, voice, and brand standards
• Create or refine reusable templates, build standards, and style guidelines so the course library delivers a consistent look and learner experience
• Incorporate feedback from reviewers and stakeholders through iterative review cycles
• Manage own timeline across multiple courses, report progress regularly, and flag risks early.

• Five or more years of instructional design experience.
• Minimum three years of hands-on Articulate Rise 360 experience, within the past three years.
• Portfolio of live Rise 360 builds required with application.
• Deep grounding in adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Merrill's Principles of Instruction, Bloom's taxonomy).
• Advanced and current, hands-on Articulate Rise 360 skills, including blocks, interactions, quizzes, Storyline blocks, and creative design within Rise's constraints.
• Experience auditing and redesigning existing courses, not only building new ones.
• Strong assessment design skills, including scenario-based questions and knowledge checks that measure application, not recall.
• Clear, practical written recommendations a non-designer can act on.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards and SCORM publishing to a learning management system.
• Self-directed and organised, with a reliable record of meeting deadlines in a remote, part-time contract setting.

• Familiarity with fitness, coaching, or certification-based education is a plus.
• CrossFit Level 1 Certificate is a plus.
• Experience with Articulate Storyline 360, video editing, or localisation workflows is a plus.
