Job description
About the Role
Sportradar supplies betting operators around the world with odds and trading services. Clients share a portion of the revenue generated from bets placed through these services and are required to report all relevant betting activity to Sportradar. The Revenue Protection Team ensures that this activity is reported accurately and in line with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with large sets of client betting data to identify gaps, discrepancies or unusual patterns and investigate their cause.
- Analyse client betting data to spot anomalies and changes in behaviour.
- Compare clients against their peers and against their own history to distinguish a real problem from a seasonal or market effect.
- Determine what the contract requires, gather supporting evidence and estimate the potential commercial impact.
- Build the evidence behind each finding so that it stands up to challenge.
- Estimate the revenue impact of an infringement using a clear and defensible method.
- Write short, precise findings for non-technical stakeholders in Sales, Legal and management.
- Build and improve the tools the team uses for recurring checks, including AI-assisted ones.
- Build a clear case for Sales and Legal to take forward with the client.
- Follow a case through to resolution and measure the uplift afterwards.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a data-led investigative role; backgrounds in fraud, risk, financial crime, payments, revenue assurance, trading risk, integrity or similar areas are also welcomed.
- Proven ability to uncover wrongdoing, non-compliance or revenue leakage through data analysis, from the first signal to an evidenced and quantified conclusion.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, cleaning and reconciling large datasets, and building calculations that others can review and validate.
- Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to pull, filter and aggregate data from large tables independently.
- Clear and concise writing skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to people who may not know the underlying data.
- Curiosity and persistence, with the drive to keep digging until the explanation holds.
- An interest in using and building tools, including AI, to work more effectively, applying them alongside own knowledge, skills and informed judgement rather than as a substitute for them.
- Right to work in the relevant location; visa sponsorship is not available.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in betting or sports data.
- Python for data analysis.
- Power BI or a similar tool.
- Experience writing to or dealing with external clients on contractual matters.
Workplace
- Office-first, fully on-site model, with team members working in the office five days a week.
Benefits & Perks
- Collaborative environment with colleagues from all over the world (offices in Europe, Asia and the US), including various social events and teambuilding.
- Flexibility to manage your workday and tasks with autonomy.
- A balance of structure and autonomy to tackle daily tasks.
- Vibrant and inclusive community, including Women in Tech and Pride groups which welcome all participants.
- Global Employee Assistance Programme.
- Calm and Reulay app (leading well-being apps designed to support focus, quality rest, mindfulness, and long-term mental resilience).
- Online training videos.
- Flexible working hours.
The Application Process
The recruitment process includes an initial screening, a team interview, a final onsite interview with a live technical exercise, and final feedback or offer. Excel skills are assessed as part of the interview process.
- Initial screening: a quick chat with the Talent Acquisition Partner to understand your background and expectations.
- Team interview with the Revenue Protection manager and senior members of the wider team about your experience, how you investigate, and how you would fit in the team.
- Final interview onsite: a technical exercise completed live with the team in the office, using a realistic dataset; no AI tools for this stage.
- Final steps: receive feedback and, if successful, an offer.
