Mid Level

Job description
About the Role
Handles the day-to-day running of live and VOD content across a designated client portfolio, combining hands-on content management and image creation with operational coordination. It sits within Deltatre's Content Operations team and works alongside Senior Content Operations Managers on planning, prioritisation and delivery, taking on more independence and breadth as the post-holder grows. The role is broad, moving between clients and types of work as demand requires, from metadata and thumbnails to live event scheduling and client requests, often within the same shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across the full VOD lifecycle, including media ingestion, transcoding, metadata enrichment, playlisting, publishing and front-end verification.
- Schedule, onboard and validate live and upcoming events on daily, weekly and seasonal cycles accurately and on time, and support live operations with real-time monitoring, troubleshooting and delivery coordination.
- Action ad hoc and recurring client requests, prioritised with the Senior Content Operations Managers, and handle day-to-day client requests from start to finish.
- Build playlists, set ordering logic and manage front-end presentation and promotion, initially with direction from the Senior Content Operations Managers and increasingly independently.
- Ensure all content, including shoulder programming such as pre- and post-game shows and highlights, is published and displayed in line with agreed principles, and run hero updates when assigned or when working the relevant shift.
- Create thumbnails for upcoming events, highlights and replays and, where appropriate, hero images from templates, and build thumbnail templates from brand guidelines.
- Create and document metadata across VOD content, including titles, descriptions, tags and geo-restrictions, keeping it neutral, clear and consistent and following each client's specific requirements
- Update and iterate metadata documentation and write and implement descriptions for upcoming live events.
- Conduct regular audit checks on content playback, metadata accuracy and front-end presentation, and keep systems and platforms consistent through daily and weekly validation.
- Support the Senior Content Operations Managers with day-to-day delivery across the assigned client portfolio, respond to operational issues and support real-time decisions, flag issues, dependencies and potential delays early, suggest improvements to workflows and processes
- Work with live and schedule operations colleagues, provide real-time updates and reporting, and escalate risks to management.
- Help onboard and train new team members on best practice and quality standards, train new self-service clients on systems and platforms, share client knowledge so the team does not depend on any one person, and contribute to delivery of proof-of-concepts for prospective clients.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in content operations, media operations or digital publishing for a streaming, broadcast or sports media platform.
- Hands-on experience ingesting, scheduling and publishing VOD content in a content management system (CMS) or video platform.
- Working knowledge of the VOD workflow end to end: ingestion, transcoding, metadata, playlisting and front-end verification.
- Experience supporting live event operations, including scheduling and real-time monitoring.
- Experience writing and maintaining metadata (titles, descriptions, tags) to a style guide or client specification.
- Experience creating thumbnails and images in Adobe Photoshop, including building templates from brand guidelines.
- Experience running quality checks on content playback, metadata or front-end presentation.
- Experience handling day-to-day client or stakeholder requests and escalating risks clearly and early.
- Experience writing or maintaining process documentation and checklists.
- Able to work late midweek and weekend shifts around live events.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with geo-restrictions, rights windows or content availability rules.
- Knowledge of sports formats and programming, such as pre- and post-game shows, highlights and replays.
- Experience training colleagues or clients on systems and tools.
- Experience contributing to proof-of-concepts or onboarding for new clients.
- Experience across multiple front ends (web, mobile, connected TV).
Workplace
- Department: Broadcast & Live Operations.
- UK employment contract; candidates must be based in the UK, and remote working from outside the UK is not supported due to local employment and tax legislation.
- Live sport sets the rhythm: from September to May, around one late midweek shift a week and two to three weekend shifts a month at busy times, with far fewer from June to August; live schedules change, so the pattern is not fixed.
The Application Process
The process includes an introductory conversation, a one-hour technical interview and a one-hour competency-based interview. Accommodation adjustments are available if any format would be difficult, and accessibility and accommodation questions are welcome at any stage.
- Introductory conversation to get to know each other and answer questions about Deltatre.
- One-hour technical interview covering experience and past responsibilities.
- One-hour competency-based interview using situational questions based on real-life work scenarios.
