Quality Assurance Engineer

The Quality Assurance Engineer joins Hudl's performance analysis squad, a team dedicated to building best-in-class tools that help coaches and analysts turn game video and data into winning insights. The role supports the products that power film breakdowns, tagging, stats and reporting, so that every clip, metric and playlist is accurate, fast and reliable. The postholder leads testing efforts within their squad, focusing on both prevention and efficiency so that coaches and analysts have a seamless experience from game day through the film room.

• Attend and actively voice a quality focus in squad sprint scrum ceremonies.
• Understand the core problem being solved and ensure backlog defects are prioritised.
• Create test plans and implement squad quality best practices.
• Use data to drive high-quality outcomes and ensure post-mortems or root cause analyses (RCAs) are created for all hotfixes.
• Leverage multiple testing approaches, including automated, exploratory and manual testing, from start to finish.
• Ensure sub-defects are resolved and merge builds run cleanly.
• Dedicate time to personal professional development and skill-building.

• 2+ years of software testing experience, including work in fast-paced environments with changing deadlines.
• Solid experience designing and executing tests across the stack, from front-end UI validation to in-depth API testing.
• Proven, hands-on experience and proficiency with key languages such as Python and TypeScript.
• Experience with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright and Selenium.
• Experience testing iOS or Android applications, with an understanding of mobile-specific performance, UI nuances and automation using Appium, Detox and/or React Native tooling, plus the associated APIs that apps rely on (protocols such as GraphQL and REST).
• Ability to work effectively within a global team, leading with empathy and clear communication to help the squad achieve the best outcomes.
• Ability to navigate technical and team challenges during changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A naturally curious approach, thinking outside the box by exploring creative solutions to break software.
• A user-focused mindset, thinking critically about the user experience and relating easily to users.
• A passion for learning and openness to growth areas.

• Experience working in a SaaS environment or a background in a STEM-related field.
• Curiosity about and exposure to leveraging AI tools, such as LLMs, specialised coding assistants or test data generators, to increase efficiency in documentation, test case creation or initial failure diagnosis.
• Experience working within a Scrum framework and participating in sprint ceremonies.
