Software Engineer I, ITC

The Full Stack Software Engineer is part of the Global Technology organisation and reports to the Engineering Manager. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining front-end and back-end applications, ensuring seamless and scalable experiences for users. The engineer builds robust features, maintains system performance, and collaborates across teams to deliver high-quality cloud-native software solutions.

• Design, build, test, and maintain scalable web applications and services, working on both front-end and back-end development to deliver end-to-end functionality.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, technical specifications, and deliver quality software.
• Implement dynamic, responsive, and user-friendly web interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and back-end services using technologies such as Node.js or Python.
• Develop and manage NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Write unit tests and integration tests, maintaining high code quality standards using tools such as Jest or Mocha.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks across the full stack, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
• Integrate with and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines for seamless software delivery.
• Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and retrospectives.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer or in a similar role.
• Hands-on exposure to front-end skills in React or similar technologies.
• Hands-on exposure to server-side programming languages such as Node.js or Python.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on exposure to designing and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including experience with serverless architectures and cloud-native development.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub, or similar version control tools.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab, containerisation technologies like Docker, or microservices architecture.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with ambiguity.
