Job description
About the Role
This is a strategy role sitting within a global sports, entertainment and experiential marketing agency, working alongside creatives, account leads, technologists and an expanded strategy division. Its purpose is to uncover human truths about fandom, culture and the role of brands, and to turn research into a steady stream of insights that inspire powerful creative work. The post-holder is expected to rally colleagues around the work and help create a collaborative creative atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the creative briefing process, transforming research into a constant stream of inspiration, insights and thought starters for the creative team.
- Collaborate with an expanded team, including client and account contacts, to distil assignments into strong creative briefs and to sell in creative strategies and positionings.
- Be resourceful in leveraging existing syndicated or desk research to fortify and inspire the creative process.
- Collect and catalogue data and insights, turning research into reports that inspire internal teams and are shared externally as thought leadership.
- Create consumer journeys along with brand positioning, identity and messaging architectures.
- Ground assignments in the bigger strategic questions, such as what makes a fandom tick, what role the brand plays and how a property shows up in culture, in pursuit of new insights.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 2-4 years of relevant advertising or marketing experience, ideally in brand planning, strategy or research.
- Demonstrated history of developing a narrative or perspective that could be used to impact a creative brief.
- Experience collaborating on research and analysis that uncovered consumer or brand insights.
- Additional experience with brand positioning, campaign creation, strategic frameworks, digital and channel strategies and customer journeys.
- Naturally curious and driven to uncover human truth, with personal passions spanning sport, culture and entertainment.
- A storyteller who is comfortable working across mediums and who cares how something is communicated, not only what is communicated.
- Able to welcome diverse perspectives and empathise with how people think and what inspires action.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in inter-agency projects or collaborations.
Workplace
- Minimum of three days a week working in the office, unless additional in-office days are directed by the agency or manager.
