Manager, Transport

Sits within the Racing Division, which manages all aspects of Hong Kong's world-class sport of horse racing across the full value chain, from importation and training to racedays, equestrian, welfare, integrity, and international engagement. The postholder oversees daily local horse movement operations and leads and develops the transport operations team across people, processes, systems, service quality, resource optimisation, cost management, and operational planning. The position works with internal and external stakeholders, including Racing IT, Stable Management, and the Conghua Transport & Logistics Team, on both local and cross-border horse movement and logistics operations.

• Oversee daily local horse movement operations, ensuring compliance with all internal policies, external regulations, and operating procedures.
• Lead and develop the transport operations team to support daily logistics activities and monitoring systems, focusing on people, processes, systems, service quality, resource optimisation, cost management, and operational planning.
• Develop and apply key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive cost optimisation while maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.
• Perform race day and airport duties, and support management in monitoring transportation protocols and operational performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across key service areas to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure team members and operational activities comply with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support the Club's transportation and logistics operations.
• Support the development and implementation of horse movement SOPs and a local driver handbook outlining operating procedures, roles, and responsibilities.
• Collaborate with the Racing IT and Stable Management teams to conduct statistical analyses and develop future operating models for the Olympic Stables refurbishment project, including resource planning and justification.
• Manage workforce deployment by planning resource allocation, setting performance standards, motivating team members, fostering teamwork, monitoring and evaluating performance, supporting recruitment activities, and coordinating staff training and development.
• Support the development and enhancement of the cross-border horse movement operating model for Conghua Racecourse, and assist management in preparing operational protocols for cross-border special projects, including activities related to Conghua Racecourse.
• Coordinate with the Conghua Transport & Logistics Team and IT team to develop and enhance systems supporting the China Equine Transfer Station (CETS) and Team Racing operations.

• At least 5 years of experience in logistics and transportation operations, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior supervisory role within a reputable and sizeable organisation.
• Sound knowledge of cargo transportation regulations and import/export logistics procedures between Hong Kong, Mainland China, and overseas countries.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with strong presentation and reporting skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and operational planning skills.
• Proven experience in end-to-end project implementation and execution.
• Holder of Hong Kong Driving Licence 1 and 2.

• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related discipline.
