Job description
About the Role
The Senior Manager, Technical Account Manager (TAM) leads a team of TAMs and Technical Program Managers while remaining hands-on with the most complex and strategic partners. The role sits within the Global Partner Integration Team, part of the DTC Global Platform Team, which owns and manages go-to-market partner integrations, including affiliate-owned set-top box (STB) integrations. These integrations cover back-office systems such as authentication, authorisation, shared identity, billing, and entitlement services, as well as apps deployed on affiliate-owned equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of experienced Technical Account Managers and Technical Program Managers, using performance metrics and team feedback to establish and refine the team's way of working.
- Work with affiliates from initial technical engagement through to launch, remaining hands-on with the most complex and strategic partners.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for partners and act as the voice of partners to internal teams.
- Build and maintain a healthy, high-performing team culture, reading team morale and acting on it.
- Work closely with partner teams to explain functionality, field questions quickly and effectively, and evaluate partners' designs and plans to resolve issues prior to implementation.
- Identify and define requirements unique to partner integrations or devices, and drive technical negotiation and alignment with partners.
- Drive partners to adapt to the standard integration architecture, deciding on bespoke integration only when standard integration is not achievable.
- Work with internal and external partner engineering teams and serve as subject matter expert for each integration owned.
- Represent the voice of partners, taking a data-driven approach to surface key partner insights and improve the integration experience.
- Partner with the Ops team to verify testing and resolve identified issues, and ensure partners stay within the defined strategy of the Partner Integration Program, collaborating with Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, and other teams to implement bespoke solutions when required.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a background in technical production, program management, engineering, architecture, or a similar technical discipline.
- Technical astuteness and the ability to assess a partner's capability to perform an integration accurately.
- Highly tuned emotional intelligence, with the ability to listen well and lead with empathy toward both team and partners.
- Mature, empathetic management style, with the ability to read team morale and act on it.
- Experience playing a lead role in the delivery of a major product or feature launch, either as a Technical Account Manager, Product Manager, Program Manager, Engineer, or Solutions Architect.
- Proven competency in strategic leadership, organisational agility, people management, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communication.
- Ability to balance technical depth, product knowledge, business understanding, and organisational and communication skills to ensure the right decisions are made, backed by a demonstrated track record.
- Track record of managing, coaching, and developing individual contributors, and managing performance.
- Understanding of back-office systems such as authentication, authorisation, identity management, billing, and entitlements, with demonstrated ability to deliver projects in these areas.
- Understanding of affiliate equipment, including set-top boxes, and ability to work with partners to integrate apps onto that equipment and that equipment into the broader framework.
- Effective communication across all levels and disciplines — from Engineering to Marketing/Distribution to Executive Leadership — both internally and with external Affiliates and Partners.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and projects across various stages of implementation.
- Experience leading the planning, execution, and delivery of projects across multiple product and technology teams around the world.
- Ability to communicate clearly, analyse technical designs, organise project timelines, secure commitments, manage risks, identify critical paths, spot edge cases, triage bugs, review metrics and data, and monitor launch operations for large software projects.
- Ability to use data to assess the success of launches.
Preferred Skills
- Track record of building high-performance, stable, scalable systems that have been successfully shipped to customers in production.
- Exemplary work and approach, driving best practices and setting standards for the team.
- Contribution to the organisation and the company's strategy relating to go-to-market partner relationships.
- Good judgement, making trade-offs between immediate and long-term business needs.
- Collaborative partnership that makes stakeholders and team members more productive.
- Recognition as a leader, mentoring others, and a proven track record of building strategic relationships with external partners.
Workplace
- Hybrid work model combining remote and in-office work, following current company policy and to be agreed with the Line Manager.
- The working agreement may be changed by Skydance or the Line Manager where essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice, subject to applicable laws.
