The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.

The FA oversees England international teams across men's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FA Women's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park, all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

The Role

To lead and deliver on a regional talent pathway strategy that identifies and nurtures a wide and diverse pool of players who have the potential to become a senior Lioness.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and deliver a region-specific talent strategy in the North East Region, providing a supply of players for Youth National Teams.
  • Develop and implement a tracking and monitoring system that allows female players individual progression to be objectively qualified in each region.
  • To lead and deliver the Discover My Talent Programme, allowing talent to reach opportunity in the North East Region.
  • Develop and deliver a parent education programme to support the journey of talented female players.
  • Undertake innovative talent activities to engage and identify talented female players across the region in more rural or urban areas, managing the deployment of a Talent Reporter Workforce.
  • Work in partnership with the EFL Trust and all external stakeholders to develop and enhance our Talent Inclusion programme.
  • Provide information and attend England long list player selection and grading events when required.
  • Where required and directed through talent management systems, provide in-situ support for priority players in your region.
  • Consistently seek good practice from other sports and UEFA study visits to learn and share good practice from talent pathway perspective.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
  • The North East Region includes: Durham, East Riding of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, West Yorkshire.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What we are looking for?

Essential:

Knowledge

  • UEFA B Licence.

Experience

  • Experience working within the North East Region and understands the nuances of this area.
  • Experience of planning, implementing and managing successful talent programmes/pathways.
  • Experience of leading player development programmes within a club environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse effective talent pathway activities to increase player development interventions.
  • High level people development skills and experience.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate working within elite football / sports environments.
  • Deep knowledge of technical and tactical components of the game.
  • Ability to analyse and present data to support player development work.

Technical Skills

    • Extensive experience of Excel.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to create presentations and present to a wide range of key stakeholders.

Desirable:

Knowledge

  • UEFA A Licence

Experience

  • Ability to engage historically under-represented communities to excite and inspire young girls on their footballing journey
  • Experience working with local partners and stakeholders to engage historically under-represented groups
  • Experience of building and delivering talent pathways
  • A detailed knowledge of the women's game
  • Experience and knowledge of international football
  • Explicit knowledge and understanding of the England DNA

Technical Skills

  • Basic Project Management skills.
  • Basic Analysis skills.

Please be aware that unless you are on a homebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.

We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
