The Venue IT Manager is responsible for managing the IT team with Event IT related deliverables of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, coordinating with all relevant parties the planning, implementation and operation of all Event IT services in the exercises and during event time.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of IT & Telecommunications and Broadcast technology services are implemented according to FIFA requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, providers, and government entities in relation to ensuring delivery of connectivity as per agreed service levels, ensuring actions are followed up and driven to successful conclusion
  • Facilitate the collection and distribution of requirements of all client groups involved in the FIFA World Cup 2022 (especially from Media and Broadcasters)
  • Ensure that all information pertaining to infrastructure, services and spaces needed for the delivery and support of Event IT and Broadcast IT services are communicated to, and understood by, venue/site authorities and respective delivery teams
  • Conduct technology needs assessments (Technology Equipment Allocation Process) and plan the delivery of suitable end user technology equipment and services to all FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC departments and FIFA constituent groups, including hardware, services and consumables
  • Asset tracking and management of deployed equipment
  • Maintain, in collaboration with FIFA and Host Country relevant parties (private and governmental) the venue/site support and monitoring of network and services during the tournament and Competition Related Events, covering all the levels of support and communications
  • Track the progress of structural build-out and IT implementation leading up to the timely availability of components and services and including the commissioning and final decommissioning of the venues
  • Develop regular progress, risk and issue management reports according to IT governance and keep counterparts aligned
  • Support the development and the maintaining of the IT master delivery plan
  • Support the development of the IT readiness program, including but not limited to: redeployment, event policies and procedures elaboration, training, readiness exercises preparation and execution.
  • Build and manage the team composed of paid staff, volunteers and contractors for operating the venue/site aligned with the overall FIFA strategy for running the event
  • Ensure that all IT related services are being tracked in the ITSM and supported as per SLAs, as part of the IT support model
  • Ensure positive attitude from the Venue Event IT teams and good relationship with all the parties, including FIFA teams, Q22 areas/projects, end-users, suppliers, Host Country in IT Infrastructure Implementation and operation
  • Lead venue IT team operation in all the phases of the project, from planning, deliveries inspections, bump in to tournament operation, bump out and dissolution.
  • Run and lead briefing and debriefing of the day with venue IT team
  • Ensure communications with counterparts in the venue and in the IT Command Center
  • Secure necessary workforce to support clients operations, ensuring necessary service coverage in the venues
  • Pursue SLAs agreed in technology with clients
  • Work as escalation point in IT inside of the venue
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum experience of 5 years in an Event IT/Venue Technology environmentStrong IT skill, especially in IT service delivery and frameworks
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong Operational Management skills
  • Leadership of multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in international sports / event management
  • University degree in appropriate subject (or adequate training/vocational education)
  • Ability to design, comprehend and follow business process is essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience or knowledge of local culture is essential
  • Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in Arabic is an asset
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project)
  • Planning software and online collaboration tools (an asset)
  • Team Player, willing to work to tight timelines
  • Flexibility to deal with constant changes in dynamic environments
  • Positive attitude, patience and persistence
