About the LTA

About the role
This role presents an exciting opportunity to work within the LTA Performance Department. The role will involve delivery both at the National Tennis Centre and supporting selected groups and individual players oversees.

You will have experience working as part of an inter-disciplinary team delivering S+C in High Performance Sport and a proven ability to develop and deliver plans / programmes in partnership with coaches. Due to the nature and scope of the role you will require a curiosity and desire to develop unique solutions to positively affect athletic development in a way that impacts short and long term performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Men’s and/or Women’s Tennis team to improve performance through developing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programmes.
  • Undertake the delivery and development of strength and conditioning services for players and coaches that effectively meet their needs with highest professional standards both at the National Tennis Centre and overseas
  • Work very closely with the LTA Science and Medicine team both in the area of athlete development and rehabilitation
  • Deliver strength and conditioning services from identified locations and at different training venues or camps and at domestic and international tournaments
  • Effectively problem solve in creating the best possible strength and conditioning service for players and coaches
  • Ensure that the latest innovations and research findings within tennis and strength and conditioning are analysed, assessed and brought into British tennis when they will add value and improve performance
  • In close collaboration with the tennis coaches in the Women’s and/or Men’s Tennis teams, actively contribute to weekly, monthly and annual training plans and tournament schedules
  • Ensure and promote equality of opportunity, respecting diversity and recognising the needs of different groups and individuals
  • Create, build and sustain effective working relationships and networks with key partners particularly other Strength and Conditioning Coaches both nationally and internationally
  • Develop and implement systems and methodologies to evaluate the success of own and team’s work both internally and externally

Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in related field
  • A proven track record of developing elite athletes in partnership with coaches
  • A proven track of designing, implementation and monitoring training programmes aligned to the needs of the individual and sport.
  • Experience working in close collaboration with a variety of stakeholders and a number of teams or individual athletes concurrently
  • Experience working in high performance as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • MSc in S+C or a related field with UKSCA accreditation / equivalent (or working towards)
  • Experience of coaching / mentoring other practitioners
  • Knowledge and experience of Elite Tennis
