THE JOB
Reporting to the Associate Director, Elite Training Science and Technology, the Sport Nutrition and Monitoring Manager is responsible for the following duties:
To lead and manage the biochemistry and nutrition function of the Sport Nutrition and Monitoring Centre and ensure services models reflecting international best practice standards and are appropriately integrated with the allied scientific, medical and athlete affairs service units according to the biopsychosocial operating model of the Elite Training Science and Technology Division (ETSTD);
To plan and implement state-of-the-art applied sport nutrition services to support and enhance elite athletes training and preparation for competitions;
To develop nutrition strategies and guidelines for various sports and use of nutritional supplements;
To monitor athletes’ foodservice and work closely with the Catering Department;
To plan and develop the Sports Nutrition Monitoring Centre including departmental protocols and guidelines;
To establish and maintain effective professionals network with individuals and organizations;
To conduct applied research;
To collaborate with allied areas as appropriate to the HKSI biopsychosocial operational model; and
Perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.
THE REQUIREMENTS
A doctoral degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years' related working experience in sports field; OR a master or higher degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years' related working experience in sports field;
Proven experience in the hands-on delivery or assisting the delivery of elite level sport nutrition programmes;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
Good command in both spoken and written Chinese and English. Knowledge of Putonghua will be an advantage;
Strong connections with local and overseas reputable counterparts in sport nutrition and biochemistry research.
Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
