Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.
Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. We are looking to appoint a Senior Event Services Manager to lead the planning and delivery of the Rugby World Cup across a number of key functional areas including; Transport, Logistics, Accommodation, Catering, Cleaning and Waste.
Reporting to the Head of Tournament, Rugby & Team Services there will be a close working relationship with operations teams and client groups within the LOC and World Rugby EventsCo. The Senior Event Services Manager will have a number of direct reports across the functional area responsibilities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Effectively leading and guiding on a portfolio of specific Functional Areas within the Events Services Department, whilst providing expertise in more than one of the following functional areas; Transport, Arrivals & Departures, Logistics, Accommodation, Catering, Cleaning & Waste.
- Monitor and manage milestones outlined in the tournament masterplan
- Work closely with key LOC, EventsCo and World Rugby staff, including the leads in other key FAs to ensure integrated planning and delivery.
- Work in conjunction with key external stakeholders and service providers to ensure service levels, standards and operational framework are in place.
- Oversee the development of operational frameworks and functional area plans.
- Oversee the management of the budget for all areas of responsibility to ensure delivery within budget scope to deliver operational requirements to service standards.
- Provide the LOC and EventsCo management with updates in line with the Governance structures, including at Tournament Reviews, Board Meetings and assurance check points.
- Support a collaborative working relationship with the RFU, Host Venues and Cities during planning and operations.
- Oversee the recruitment of and management of staff including FA Managers/Coordinators and tournament time operational staff. Oversee their training and onboarding, including all arrangements for their tournament-time deployment.
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
Essential:
- Experience in holding a management role within a major sporting event landscape or equivalent events.
- Demonstrable success in managing or leading a functional area / specific project portfolio from providing strategic direction and guidance through to overseeing operational planning and delivery.
- Demonstrable experience in a number of functional areas falling within the remit of role, including planning and operational delivery experience.
- Demonstrable success in supporting senior leaders and providing managerial support and leadership to a team or workforce.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple individuals across a varied portfolio of responsibilities.
- Experience dealing with budgets, purchase order systems, other enterprise system tools, project management tools.
