The role supports all CGAs to be great organisations in preparation, performance and celebration. It enables them all to actively contribute to the development of sport and sport for development in the Commonwealth. Working with the Regional Vice Presidents, the role supports CGA programmes and investment and will focus on stakeholder engagement and supporting the capability and capacity of CGAs and the region.

Overall Job Purpose:
Ultimately the role is about Leading, Supporting and Developing thriving member CGAs. There are three priorities within the Development workstream:
• Build and manage strong, meaningful partnerships with all CGAs.
• Support all CGAs to be great organisations in preparation, performance and celebration.
• Enable all CGAs to contribute to the development of sport and sports for development actively.
This role is a member of the CGF’s Development Team, which comprises the Director, Head of Programmes & Investment and three (3) Regional Managers (Africa & Europe / Asia & Oceania / Caribbean & Americas).
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Principal Accountabilities
• Act as a key conduit across CGF departments for all activities in the region, acting as a trusted advisor and escalation point for all matters, sourcing and providing effective and efficient solutions to issues and problems raised by the region.
• Ensure complete integration and coordination of all CGF activities within the region.
• Ensure all CGAs comply with best practice governance and operational principles and source the appropriate advice on governance issues.
• Provide advice on strategic, governance, operational and development planning to CGAs, and when required to, facilitate the production of those plans, to support the development of CGA capability and capacity across the region.
Experience:
• A minimum of 7 years of experience overseeing sport development strategy at the national and international level (region-specific knowledge would be an asset).
• Able to demonstrate strong relationship skills and a high cultural sensitivity and diplomacy level when working with key stakeholders and partners.
• In-depth understanding of effective sport organisation structures.
• Experience with facilitation, strategic planning skills and knowledge of governance models.
• Ability to advise on organisational development matters.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate and build relationships within International Sport Bodies (governmental and non-governmental).
• Proven experience motivating and inspiring a broad team through effective leadership and development. And will be politically astute with the ability to think strategically.
• A proven track record of managing significant budgets.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, frequently under pressure, on multiple tasks.
• Evidence of strategic thinking while maintaining a firm grasp of operational priorities.
