Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

Women’s RWC 2025 LOC is looking to appoint a Project Accountant within the RWC 2025 LOC, based in West London. The Project Accountant is a key member of the team that will be responsible for the management of budgets and the provision of quality, timely and accurate information to all relevant stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Business Operations, there will be a close working relationship with operations teams and client groups within the LOC and World Rugby EventsCo.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the detailed budgeting for the delivery of the event. This includes the budgeting, forecasting and reconciliation of the event budget.
- Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of statutory reports, publications, internal and external audits and associate financial accounts.
- Work closely with key LOC and EventsCo staff, and the leads in other key functional areas to ensure integrated planning and delivery and robust financial provisions and controls.
- Monitoring spend, PO/accrual management and investigating variances in forecasts and actuals against budget.
- Provide the LOC and EventsCo management with updates in line with the Governance structures, including at Tournament Reviews, Board Meetings and assurance check points.
- Support routine reforecasting activity and controlling the change management process.
- Work closely with World Rugby group finance teams to implement and apply standard financial process and procedure in the LOC
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
Essential:
- Skilled user of Microsoft office applications, financial reporting software (e.g. SAP) and Business Intelligence software (e.g. SAP DOMO, SAP BI, CLIQ)
- Broad financial skill set to be able to act as the subject matter expert in all budget matters, from budget creation to post event reconciliation.
- Demonstrable ability to apply a high level rigor to a range of financial management activity including budgets, commercial and procurement.
- Demonstrable experience in the analysis of financial information and the preparation of routine and exceptional reports to inform a range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience in a financial accounting / analysis role.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working within sport or the delivery of a major event
- Accounting qualification /working towards a relevant CIMA or ACCA qualification
