The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.

The FA oversees England international teams across men's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FA Women's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park, all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

To deliver against our goal we have reallocated resources and invested heavily in developing a team of exceptional people capable of creating winning England teams at our world-class training facilities at our National Football Centre, St. George's Park.

Role Description

To ensure that The FA develops, maintains and monitors purposeful relationships across the Men's Professional Game with an onus on our club engagement and communication with players; especially those with dual/multi eligibilities. This is an aligned approach, but this role will manage a coordinated approach and provide key insight from clubs and further help in identifying, recruiting, retaining, developing and deselecting players.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build a network of key external stakeholders across professional clubs and monitor the development of trusting and purposeful relationships of all key technical staff through club visits and regular communications.
  • For those players with eligibility options, develop trusting relationships and communicate the benefits of choosing England over other nations.
  • Establish and sustain dialogue with players and their families who have other eligibilities about England's aspirations for them as individuals, enhancing their connection with the England Pathway.
  • Ensure player and club data is recorded, stored, and shared across the Technical Directorate, and used effectively in future engagements.
  • By coordinating the engagement with clubs across the leagues, help to ensure that there is comprehensive intelligence gathering and an evidence base for player identification, selection and eligibility discussions.
  • Support the Head of Selection and Talent Strategy in our collaborative discussions with key club personnel on an individual player's development plan, and progression readiness in our pathway and/or deselection.
  • Work in conjunction with our National Coaches to feed key insights to club personnel to support mutual understanding of England Players.
  • Ensure that key insights are shared with relevant stakeholders across the Men's Pathway.
  • Work in collaboration with FA Education to facilitate club professional development learning events where key learnings/projects from England Teams can be disseminated.
  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Has experience in an elite level football environment.
  • Federation Talent ID Qualifications.
  • Federation Coaching Qualifications.
  • Experience of leading and delivering contemporary, multi-disciplinary talent or player identification programmes in professional football.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent relationship builder.
  • Outstanding strategic and operational planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Full, clean driving licence

Desirable

  • Creative presentation skills and experience of creating and delivering engaging workshops/presentations.
  • Track record of successfully leading teams in International football.
  • An established network of senior contacts across the domestic and international game, including club officials, coaches, scouts, players.

Please be aware that unless you are contractually homebased, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.

We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
