The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.

The Role

  • Support the National Development Managers and Walking Football advisory group to implement the key outcomes of the walking football gameplan - focusing on governance, participation, and promotion.
  • Support Recreational football opportunities within the game, particularly within historically under-represented communities.
  • Support the definition, branding and scaling of vets football (35+) across the CFA network
  • Support the delivery of the equal access for girls in clubs gameplan and building strong relationships with the delivery network and within County FA's.

Key Accountabilities

Walking Football

  • Supporting the delivery of the Walking Football Gameplan, focusing on the key pillars of Governance, Participation and Promotion.
  • Support the development of national competition structures for walking football
  • Provide proactive support to key delivery networks to help raise standards and increase high quality playing opportunities for both men and women.

Recreational Football

  • Grow women's recreational football, learning from the WEURO22 Legacy and Sport England funded Women's Recreational Officer roles.
  • Support the defining of technology requirements within FA systems and Affiliation value propositions.
  • Provide input and support for new and existing interventions that support growth of Recreational Football.
  • Review the opportunity to position Soccercise as an introductory offer for recreational football and to monitor impact
  • Support the development of the Just Play programme to ensure it is a fit for purpose offer that reaches new male and female audiences aged 16+.

Vets Football (35+)

  • Support the development of a new identity to support the improved promotion of football opportunities for the 35+ audience.
  • Support the County FA network to develop a fit for purpose football offer to cater for demand amongst the 35+ audience.

Equal Access in clubs work programme

  • Support the delivery of the "equal access in clubs" plan, coordinating the operations and logistics of tactics and pilot interventions.
  • Effectively communicate the equal access in clubs plan opportunities with the County FAs and facilitate the sharing of best amongst the network.

  • Execute additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Interest and passion for football for both male and female players
  • Knowledge of education, recreational, club, league, and competition landscapes for football
  • Knowledge of the different football formats (walking football, veterans, recreational)
  • Proven track record of shaping and delivering sports participation programmes
  • Commitment to sports equality and knowledge of barriers facing under-represented groups
  • Track record of project management involving multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills
  • Budget/Resource Management
  • Excellent planning, administration and report writing skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Proven track record of shaping and delivering football participation programmes targeting 50+ adults, 35+ adults and in recreational settings
  • Understanding of the political and functional workings of County Football Associations
  • Knowledge of FA strategies
  • An understanding of the challenges associated with running female football clubs and leagues

A full clean driving licence is required

Please be aware that unless you are on a homebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.

We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
