Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.
Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. We are looking to recruit 2 Lead Venue Managers who will be integral members of the Venue Management team with responsibility for the operational planning and delivery of 4 match venues each and opening or closing match. A team of managers and co-ordinators will report directly into these roles.
The Lead Venue Managers will work closely with all other functional area leads and as well as key stakeholders to ensure facilities meet the needs of all client groups. The primary measure of success being the quality of the delivery and resilience of the venues during the tournament.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage a team of Venue Managers and Venue Co-ordinators
- Deliver venues on time, to agreed budget, and to the World Rugby Venue Technical Guide requirements of Women’s RWC 2025.
- Lead the planning and delivery of the opening or closing match.
- Identify and manage all venue overlay requirements to deliver venues against World Rugby’s Venue Technical Guide.
- Identify and highlight major risks and propose mitigation measures, developing contingency plans alongside stakeholders.
- Work with World Rugby to ensure all partners’ requirements are delivered.
- Liaise with venue owners and key stakeholders as well as complying with venue hire agreements.
- Prepare and present reports on venue delivery progress, issues and risks.
- Development of the Venue Operational Plans.
- Coordinate the interface between venues and functional area leads and contractors.
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
Essential:
- Track record of success as a leader and managing a team.
- Proven experience delivering venue overlay and operations for events
- Major event experience and in particular multi-venue and stakeholder projects.
- Proven success at building excellent working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven communication skills and ability to deliver quality reports.
Desirable:
- A working knowledge of the international rugby environment.
- Accustomed to working with a high level of corporate and public scrutiny.
