Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.
Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. Women’s RWC 2025 LOC is looking for a Lead City Manager to be responsible for ensuring that each relevant Local Authority delivers on its core Host City Agreement commitments to promote and market the Women's RWC2025 within its territory as well as supporting the operational delivery on during the tournament outside the venue perimeter.
The Lead City Manager will also work with World Rugby to ensure that all sponsor requirements and activations within the host Cities are delivered to the highest standard.
The primary measure of success of the role will be the exceptional delivery of the overall programme of engagement with RWC2025 within each host city.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage and inspire the host city team to deliver an exceptional host city programme across the country at tournament time to engage and connect as many people with the event as possible.
- Coordination of City Steering Groups in each host city.
- Work with World Rugby to ensure that Rugby World Cup partners’ requirements are delivered in each host City.
- Oversee and manage the process by which all relevant City signage / advertising space inventory is logged, and oversee the delivery of the relevant signage / branding for each City.
- Deliver City operational plans to the highest possible standards.
- Monitor and work with host cities on the delivery of Fanzones and/or other events for the agreed period. This may involve working with third party private sector delivery agencies.
- Work with the relevant local authority Licensing & Enforcement staff to implement an agreed Commercial Rights Protection Programme around each venue and in each Fanzone.
- Preparing and presenting reports on City Delivery issues, progress and risk.
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
Essential:
- Proven experience and track record of success as a leader and managing a team.
- Proven experience of the highest quality Event Management and operational delivery.
- Strong administration skills and delivering projects on time and to budget.
- Proven success at building excellent working relationships and engagement with other departments.
- Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and project managing interfaces between them at a senior level.
Desirable:
- An understanding of the workings of Local Authorities.
- Large scale Fan Zone / Live Site and/or experiential marketing experience.
- Experience of creating and delivering signage/advertising programs across venue, cities and events.
- A working knowledge of the international rugby environment.
