About Major Events International

Major Events International (MEI) is a specialist consultancy operating in support of the various Olympics, World Cups and other major global sports events. Our objective is to provide our membership base of ‘best of breed’ suppliers with access, insight and the opportunity for them to increase their profile amongst key decision makers and specifiers.

MEI has an extensive network of partnerships which helps our rights holding clients mitigate risk, minimise costs and maximise revenues and engagement by connecting them with best of breed suppliers.

MEI Key Deliverables

  1. Consultancy for event organisers
  2. Membership scheme for suppliers
  3. Networking Summits (2 in the UK and 1 in Switzerland)
  4. Market Visits
  5. Routine networking events
  6. Annual Handbook & e publications to include Member updates

Main Purpose of the Role:

The role has two broad components:

  • 60% of time- the management of key accounts
  • 40% of time- generation of revenue from under-leveraged MEI assets, and pursuit of new opportunities from warm prospects.

Management of 15 key accounts is central to this role. This centres around introductions to MEI contacts at host cities, International sports Federations, NGBs and Organising Committees. Support will be provided to support the administrative aspects of this role. Monthly reviews with each key account driven by a ‘tracker’ provide account accountability and transparency.

New Opportunities
There are new initiatives which are being mobilised. These include a Service Desk offer to rights holders and The Portal- which will be a non-transactional marketplace for the buyers and sellers of major event solutions. The extension of the MEI footprint beyond the core DNA of sport is still a new initiative. MEI is now seen as the hub at the centre of the wheel for the UK events industry and we are also deepening our relationship with the global eSports community via our relationship with IESF.

Key Applicant Requirements:

Non-negotiables:

  • UK based
  • Fluent spoken and written English to native speaker level
  • At least 3 years of key account experience
  • Proof of adding value to past clients
  • Proof of revenue-generating ability
  • Strong references from previous accounts managed
  • Some knowledge of the sports business eco-system
  • University education

Nice to have

  • Contacts in the major events space
  • Knowledge of Capsule
  • Experience selling advertising space or exhibition space
  • Consultative sales approach

Place of Employment

  • In normal circumstances: central London – 5 mins from Bank Station
  • Occasional visits to client offices, external events and overseas markets conference and expos
  • Currently home-working

Ways of Working

  • Office hours are 9.30 to 5.30
  • Home working is an option
  • Weekend work is covered as ‘in lieu’ holiday
  • Some international travel will be necessary for maximum 10 days

Remuneration and employment terms:

  • OTE £55k
  • Basic salary range: £33k to £35k depending on experience
  • Pre-agreed expenses to be confirmed in writing and paid monthly
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holiday
