The Disability Development Partner is responsible for leading the deployment of the Disability Strategic plan and operational plans at a regional and county level, working with the Inclusion Development Manager and Heads of Region.

This role will need to develop strategic partnerships with the wider disability community and work with the London & South East/Central & East/South & South West regional participation teams to provide support and education to ensure disabled people can access and play tennis within clubs, parks, community and education venues.

About the role

The Disability Development Partner is responsible for leading the deployment of the Disability Strategic plan and operational plans at a regional and county level, working with the Inclusion Development Manager and Heads of Region. This role will need to develop strategic partnerships with the wider disability community and work with the London & South East/Central & East/South & South West regional participation teams to provide support and education to ensure disabled people can access and play tennis within clubs, parks, community and education venues.

Key accountabilities

  • Work with the Inclusion Development Manager and the Regional Delivery Director to support the delivery of the Disability Tennis Strategic plan, but in particular relation in supporting the growth of disability competition, major events and wheelchair performance functions to ensure a joined-up approach to the disability provision regionally.
  • Enable venues and partners to provide opportunities for people to play tennis through our Sport England funded Open Court programme – supporting impairment specific activities and/or adapting existing programmes to integrate disabled people.
  • Enable Participation Development Partners to actively recruit and retain Open Court programme venues, to increase the geographical spread of venues offering opportunities for disabled people.
  • Develop and lead strategic partnerships with the wider disability community and link these to the relevant tennis communities and networks in the region to promote awareness of tennis as a relevant and impactful activity to disabled people.
  • To work closely with the Inclusion Development Manager, Heads of Region’s and Central Participation team to ensure that opportunities for disabled people are built into local area plans with targeted local authorities.
  • Work with the central coach development team and regional workforce development partners to identify, educate and support a disability-confident workforce across identified regions.
  • Work with the COO Directorate and Workforce Development Partners to advocate the inclusion of disabled people into the design and implementation of tennis programmes and products for disabled people.
  • Work with the Central Competitions team and Regional Competition Development Partners to develop and support the delivery of inclusive and impairment specific competition across identified regions.
  • Work with the Safeguarding Team and Regional Safeguarding Officers to ensure that safeguarding and welfare plans are implemented across relevant venues and partners to make the sport safer for disabled children and adults.
  • Work with the Central Participation teams and Head of Regions to put in place termly regional monitoring and evaluation tools to capture the impact of regional plans in each network and venue
