To support our Member Associations Division, FIFA is looking to recruit an initiative and passionate person as a Director Member Associations Africa.

Your duties

  • Define the regional strategy for the implementation of the Forward Programme and feed the overall FIFA Forward strategy with regional specific requirements
  • Provide a clear analysis of the current footballing situation in the region (regional needs, specificities, status of football)
  • Ensure that the confederation’s and the member associations’ contracts of agreed objectives and relevant projects are defined and implemented in line with FIFA’s framework
  • Support and monitor member associations and the confederation during the proposal and implementation phases
  • Manage the FIFA Development Committee’s approval process of contracts of agreed objectives
  • Ensure that the member associations’ financial support for running costs is defined and implemented in line within FIFA’s framework
  • Identify, in collaboration with FIFA’s governance team capacity-building activities to support the member associations in the implementation of their contracts of agreed objectives and relevant projects
  • Provide regular status reports and analysis on the implementation of projects and contracts, including financial status’
  • Direct, plan, coordinate and supervise the work of the development managers, including evaluation, training and team-building
  • Team-management, including the FIFA regional offices in Africa
  • Ensure that the development managers comply with FIFA regulations and policies
  • Supervise governance, management and financial management and operations in line with FIFA’s regulatory framework
  • Prepare, in a timely manner, all relevant documents (applications, reports etc.) and presentations for the FIFA Development Committee and any other relevant committees
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and improvements for the adaptation of services according to specific needs and contexts observed through implementation
  • Act as a FIFA resource and adviser to member associations and the confederation, and orientate them to the relevant people regarding general FIFA activities, services and information
  • Monitor the political situation of the member associations and ensure alignment and reporting

Our requirements

  • Strong track record in international development programme management in a sports organization or development agency
  • Master degree in sports management, business administration, political relations or similar
  • At least ten years’ experience in implementing projects and programmes successfully in an international working environment, including implementing controls (financial and otherwise) to ensure that programmes are successfully and responsibly executed and monitored
  • Experience of managing decentralised teams, and of building effective teams
  • Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken), one or more African languages desired
  • Working experience in the sports industry in Africa and knowledgeable of the football structure and framework in Africa, including experience with African state authorities
  • Strong familiarity with the African continent, its culture and politics
  • Excellent learning and strong analytical skills
  • High capacity in creating added-value solutions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong strategic and organisational skills
  • A personal passion to live football
