Overall Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Sport’s digitaland social content plan through the creation of creative and compelling content across all Commonwealth Sport digital channels, building the brand and supporting the growth of our audience to create engaged communities.

The role will support the organisation’s functioning areas and Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) with social and digital assets around communications and campaigns as well as sharing advice on social delivery and digital activations.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities​​​​​​

• As part of the Marketing and Communications team, responsibility for developing the content to support the delivery of the content plans and channel strategy, and regular ‘365’ content planning. 

• Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to develop digital and social content to support the Marketing and Communications strategy, targeting multiple audiences across Commonwealth Sport channels to drive interaction and engagement.

• Create engaging, strategic, and fun content including short form and long-form video, graphics and creative social content using imagery and written content with attention to brand-focused interactive content to deliver to the organisation’s objectives.

• Coordinate, engage and manage external agencies, creatives and designers to support the content creation; provide written briefs and manage timelines for deliver and budget as required.

• Work with the Brand Marketing Manager to develop specific content to support brand marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the Movement’s brand message.

• Support the Digital Marketing Manager to measure performance of content against key KPI’s, to optimise production and output of the content.

• Manage the digital and social content budget where necessary.

• Support the Marketing and Communications team with written content including Social content, media releases, briefs, reports and articles.

• Liaising with Commonwealth Sport stakeholders to promote engaging, creative global campaigns and stories to build awareness of the Commonwealth Sport Movement, its vision and its ambitions.

• Supporting development of the CRM strategy and its implementation, including creation and writing of e-newsletters.

• Integrate with OCs’ digital and social media teams to align on campaigns and enhance/augment specific OC priorities when required (such as mascot launch, KBR, Games Time proactive and reactive messaging.

• Advising, guiding, supporting and working as an integrated member of 'one team' alongside Commonwealth Games OCs to deliver Games-time content strategy.

• Assessment of the latest trends and developments in digital media to ensure that Commonwealth Sport maintains a radical and fresh digital content strategy and delivery approach.

Competence / Knowledge / Skills required

Experience/Skills

• Proven experience with content production using programmes such as Adobe Illustrator, Premier Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva and social media management programmes (e.g. Sprout Social). 

• Experience filming content and familiarity with the necessary tools and equipment preferable, combined with knowledge of how to shoot suitable content to achieve thevision for each campaign.

• A strong and enthusiastic interest in sport and the role sport can play in bringing together diverse communities. 

• Ability to liaise, engage, articulate and conduct face to face interviews with athletes, board members and staff.

• Ability to write, including social content, media releases, articles, creative briefs and reports as required.

• Ability to work within a team and individually to ensure projects and initiatives are brought to successful conclusions in a timely manner. 

• Ability to embrace new digital tools and learn functionality to become champion of the products within the organisation.

• Some knowledge of CRM and CMS platforms would be advantageous.

• Ability to work remotely, the Commonwealth Sport office and to travel to OC venues and CGA regions when required.
