FIFA and the Qatar LOC have created a new Joint Venture which will be responsible for the operational delivery of the FIFA World Cup 2022™.

The Qatar 2022 World Cup containment project will gather, coordinate and reconcile needs for cable routes and service paths, from all relevant stakeholders – in order to plan, design and deliver an efficient network of shared pathways on FIFA official sites.

It will necessarily be a joint project between Q22 and the Host Country, with involvement and oversight by FIFA Technical Services.

The Containment Manager will work within the team responsible for specification and successful operation of technical services and overlay at stadiums and other official sites of the FIFA World Cup 2022, and alongside the host country organisers who hold budgetary and contracting responsibility for all infrastructure and overlay, including containment.

FIFA official sites under the responsibility of this role include: stadiums, training sites, the International Broadcast Centre, the Main Media Centre, outdoor production facilities, centralised facilities for volunteers / ticketing and others, major draws, official hotels, HQ’s, and other tournament-critical non-competition sites as required.

Upon completion of the containment project (shortly before the tournament), the Containment Manager will be redeployed into a site-based technical role for the duration of the Tournament.

Key responsibilities

Lead the containment project on behalf of Q22 and FIFA.
Gather and reconcile the containment needs of all relevant client groups in FIFA and Q22, including FIFA TV (broadcasters), IT and Telecomms, temporary power providers, temporary plumbing providers.
Ensure that containment requirements and needs are collected from FIFA and Q22 Functional Areas including FIFA TV (broadcasters) and Event IT and their partners/suppliers, and from temporary services providers, then clearly communicated to the organization(s) responsible for delivery.
Facilitate and assist Host Country authorities in interpreting of FIFA requirements, with the aim of finding high quality, appropriate, and sustainable solutions.
Work closely with host country organisers in the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, to ensure that all containment needs and requirements are met by solutions ultimately implemented.
Assess the sufficiency and acceptability of solutions proposed by Host Country authorities, with or on behalf of FIFA.
Oversee and monitor the planning and delivery of the following:

Containment routes for all critical Event IT and Telecommunications cabling: complete and continuous open pathways, including appropriate support/protection/separation measures wherever needed.
Containment routes for all TV and broadcaster signal cabling: for both the host broadcaster (the multilateral broadcaster), and media rights licensees (unilateral broadcasters).
Containment routes for all temporary power cabling: including both broadcast power systems and non-broadcast venue power systems.
Containment routes for temporary services wherever required, such as temporary water or waste/drainage pipes, and temporary ventilation/cooling pipes and ducts.
Diverse and redundant containment routes for relevant clients, which guarantee continuity of match- and tournament-critical operations.
Individual and standardized containment solutions which are safe, fit-for-purpose, and efficient; finished containment routes must be suitable for both the cabling/services which will occupy them, and the environment in which they will be installed.
