The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George's Park.

Role Description



65 days per season approx.

£225 per day


Responsible for the implementation and delivery of the Physical Performance strategy across the Para Talent Pathway. The focus of this role includes;

  • Deliver physical performance services at all Talent Pathway events
  • Monitor, assess and report on player physical performance in the Talent Pathway
  • Liaise with players, parents / carers and the multi-disciplinary staff team when reporting monthly on player performance gap performance
  • Contribute to the development and deliver the Para Physical Performance and Nutrition syllabus

This is a national role, it is likely that suitable candidates will be expected to travel extensively, stay away overnight and provide senior camp cover when required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver education workshops to players and / or parents within the Para Talent Pathway.
  • Attend meetings with key individuals within the Para Football Performance Unit to provide updates on the delivery on Physical Performance in the Talent Pathway.
  • Contribute to critical discussions as a friendly member of a multidisciplinary team in relation to future Para football developments and concepts.
  • Produce and coordinate regular reports with regards to the progress of identified teams / programmes and players.
  • Deliver physical performance-based sessions and managed the preparation and recovery of players at camp.
  • Manage the daily player wellness checks at camp.
  • Build a rapport with players and parents / carers and have regular contact with them during the performance gap.
  • Produce regular player reports on key performance indicators.
  • Any other duties as may be requested.

What we are looking for



  • Master's degree in Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning or related discipline.
  • Minimum of an FA level 2 coaching qualification.
  • Valid FA basic first aid qualification.
  • Completed The FA safeguarding qualification.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience working as a Sports Scientist, or Strength and Conditioning coach in a Para football / futsal or football environment.
  • A proven ability to build strong networks and relationships with external individual and partner organisations to manage and deliver project requirements.
  • IT skills, including a high level of competence using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Competent at using GPS equipment and monitoring software.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a manner that is easily understood by a range of audiences.
  • Experience in critically appraising scientific methodology and data.
  • A strong adherence to the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and anti-doping in sport.
  • Ability to travel independently.
  • Understanding of the Para Football Talent Pathway and its functionality.



  • Possess a Ph.D ideally in a field related to futsal.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of supporting elite Para football squads during international competition.
  • Knowledge of the structure and organisations within The FA.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Experience and knowledge of classification procedures.
  • Experience of teaching / coaching / engaging young players.
