Established in 1985, the Sport Australia Hall of Fame (SAHOF) acts as the custodian of Australia’s rich sporting history, honouring over 170 years of Australian sporting achievements. Widely regarded as the most prestigious sporting institution in the country, SAHOF is not for profit, owned by its Members and governed by a high profile Board of Directors. The 565 Members represent the pinnacle of sport and include sporting icons, coaches, administrators, sports scientists and media commentators, all of whom have left their indelible mark on sport in this country.

Annual awards and honours presented by The Sport Australia Hall of Fame are considered the highest national sporting honours; both historical and contemporary, that can be bestowed. The Annual SAHOF Awards Program and the associated Gala Dinner, is widely regarded as Australian sport's "Night of Nights", and is the marquee event of the organisation amongst other events and programs being established moving forward.

The Administration & Membership Manager will work closely with and provide support to the Chief Executive Officer and relevant Committees in the development and delivery of SAHOF’s key activities and to ensure SAHOF’s objectives, events and programs are well supported through robust and efficient systems and processes in order to build capacity.

This is no ordinary admin role. The incumbent will not only take full responsibility for the day to day administrative tasks, they will also manage key organisational projects and programs including:

  • the Membership Program which looks after SAHOF’s most valuable assets - the Members
  • the Scholarship & Mentoring Program
  • the Communications Program including website and magazine.

The position will also play a key role in the successful delivery of the operational and logistical elements of the Annual Induction & Awards Program which culminates in the Gala Dinner attended by over 1100 people annually.

To be considered for this role you will need to have an adaptable and stable style, with superior communication skills and an ability to swiftly build relationships and credibility with stakeholders including high profile sportspeople.

Working in a small, highly focused team environment, this is a diverse and at times complex role that will suit a process driven, self-starter who possesses drive, passion and initiative, and one who is an exceptional administrator with significant operations, events and/or program management experience.

A tenacious attention to detail and the ability to seamlessly navigate through changing and often competing deadlines and an ability to multi-task is essential to this role; a real all-rounder. You will be a quick thinker, able to solve problems on the run, thrive under pressure and be prepared to work hands-on doing ’whatever it takes’ to make-it-happen and get the job done without compromising quality and whilst maintaining exceptional service to Members.

The successful candidate will have a passion for and an understanding of Australian sport history and the Australian sporting system and be able to demonstrate relevant experience to the role.
