Take the lead on the ongoing planning, development and implementation of a system of performance nutrition support to the Academy, in line with principles of the Physical Development and Football Programmes.

Full Description

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead on the ongoing development of nutritional programme philosophy, framework and good practice support to Academy players.

· Design and deliver a library of nutritional educational resources to improve the overall understanding and practice related to performance nutrition of players, parents, and staff.

· Lead on the monitoring of nutritional factors linked to performance support (body composition, nutritional knowledge, anti-doping awareness, hydration etc).

· Lead the Individual and Squad-based Nutrition Support to the U16 to U21 academy players

· Develop a programme of support for U9 to U16 schoolboy programme players, parents and staff to support nutritional goals linked to phase-relevant context.

· Develop, implement and evolve a database, profiling and feedback system for nutritional monitoring of body composition (body composition, nutritional knowledge, anti-doping awareness, hydration etc).

· Provide individual bespoke nutritional support to injured PDP players in alignment with MDT goals.

· Manage positive working relationships with First Team staff to ensure consistent alignment and sharing of good practice between the first team and academy.

 

Key Performance Indicators

· U12 to U21 Players to improve on their Movements that Matter

· U12 to U21 Players to improve on their Underpinning Physical Qualities

· To minimize time-loss non-contact injuries

· Deliver a program of education to players, parents and staff inline with the department nutrition philosophy and the cooking curriculum.

· To provide PDP Players with individual nutrition plans which make a meaningful positive change towards or maintain the elite body composition and account for the phase of season or injury.

Requirements

Education/qualifications/experience

  • To engage in the necessary CPD and professional qualifications to further your expertise (ensuring all Premier League and FA stipulations are adhered to).
  • BSc in Sports Science or Nutrition Related Degree
  • MSc in Nutrition Related Degree
  • SENR Graduate Accreditation
  • UKAD advisor certificate / completed the Introduction to Clean Sport course
  • Experience in an Elite Sport setting
  • ISAK Level 1

 

Knowledge

  • Depth of knowledge of Performance Nutrition
  • Depth of knowledge of living a Performance Lifestyle
  • Knowledge of the requirement of Academy Footballers
  • Knowledge of the requirement of EPPP
  • Knowledge of Growth and Maturation
  • Knowledge of Power BI

 

Skills and abilities

  • Perform duties with due regard to club policies and procedures and legislative requirements at all times
  • Ensure working practices are compliant with relevant legislation and data protection legislation and/or general data protection regulations (GDPR) requirements;
  • Ensure, where relevant, that all performance data is captured in a timely manner onto the Performance Management Application (PMA).
  • Skilled in collecting, analysing and reporting data

Safeguarding:

1. Staff must evidence a commitment to the safety and welfare of children, young people and adults at risk regardless of their age, gender, language, religion, ethnic background or sexual identity and ensure the safety and protection of all children, young people and adults at risk taking part in any activity arranged by or in the name of the Club.

2. It is a requirement for staff to follow the Club’s Safeguarding reporting procedures to report without delay, allegations of abuse, poor practice or which is or may, impact on the welfare of a child, young person or adult at risk. After contacting and taking guidance from the Safeguarding Team, staff must use the Club’s Child Protection Online Management System (CPOMS) to record the concern within 24 hours unless directed to do otherwise.
