Volleyball New Zealand oversees 14 regional associations, national events and extensive national coach, referee and representative programmes in both beach and indoor volleyball. Vollyball New Zealand is responsible for facilitating the roll out of the strategic plan across New Zealand to ensure volleyball remains a sport for everyone.

The role of the Chief Executive is to lead and manage the organisation to deliver the strategic outcomes as set by the Board. The Chief Executive will:

  • provide clear, decisive and effective strategic leadership to the New Zealand volleyball community;
  • develop and maintain a spirit of transparency, co-operation and goodwill; and
  • identify, manage, develop and recruit key people to the organisation as employees, contractors and volunteers.

Based in either Auckland or Wellington and reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for leading and building a passionate team of staff (5), contractors and volunteers to assist in fostering and developing volleyball through strong regions, partnerships, sustainability, best practice, operational excellence, technology, marketing, innovation and inspiration.

You will also be responsible for fostering key commercial relationships to secure ongoing sponsorship and funding for the organisation.

To be considered for this role you will need to be an experienced leader with a proven record of building a robust and sustainable organisation or a senior manager ready for the next step into this leadership role.

Experience in the sport sector or other similar not for profit organisations will be highly regarded.

You will have the ability to engage and develop positive relationships with the volleyball community, including volunteers and the broad stakeholder group, and be able to recognise, evaluate and manage diverse views in a culturally responsiveness manner.

Financially literate with strong business acumen and governance reporting strengths, you will be proficient in creating and leading the achievement of strategic outcomes and delivery of operational plans. You will have unquestionable integrity and character.

Your commercial acumen will be matched by your empathy with people and their involvement in the sport.

If you are looking to be part of a growing sport, offering plenty of challenges, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

NOTE: Candidates MUST be legally entitled to work in New Zealand without VISA or immigration sponsorship.
