Swimming Australia (SAL) is the peak body for swimming with nearly 1,000 clubs and 90,000 registered members nationally. The Performance Manager is a key position in Swimming Australia’s High-Performance Unit in Brisbane to ensure that we deliver on our high-performance strategic priorities and plan.
Reporting to the Chief Strategist, High Performance (CSHP), the role provides critical advice and support to the CSHP and High-Performance Committee, as well as management of the High-Performance Unit (HPU).
The High-Performance Strategic Plan is built on three performance streams: Olympic Pool Swimming, Open Water Swimming and Paralympic Pool Swimming.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- HPU management;
- Work with the High-Performance Centres and Athlete Programs;
- Committee and Governance;
- Staff management including providing the day-to-day management of the HPU office located in Brisbane;
- Communications and Relationships with stakeholder family; and
- Budget management.
To be considered for this role you will need to be a strong, effective collaborator, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders to achieve the strategic and operational outcomes of Swimming Australia’s high-performance programs.
You will need to demonstrate a successful track record in the management and delivery of high-performance operational plans, budgets and resources, and delivering cohesive and successful programs.
As the manager of the HPU office based in Brisbane, you will require experience in the leadership and management of staff. As a member of the leadership group for various Australian Swim Teams, you will need to demonstrate prior experience in team management and leadership practices that conform to the Swimming Australia values and behaviours.
This role is designed to support the CSHP in managing the functions of the HPU. While a background and prior experience in a high-performance environment in the sport of swimming will be advantageous, candidates from other sports with appropriate level HPU experience will be equally considered.
