Overview of the role:

  • To support the delivery of a world leading physical performance service to England development teams which supports the coaching process & provides performance advantages through optimal physical preparation of players and teams.
  • To make a contribution to the whole of the FA’s physical performance philosophy and content. The postholder’s work will be expected to influence all teams, Men’s and Women’s.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Underpin the delivery of an excellent physical performance service to England Women’s & Men’s development teams through sport science research, innovation and support.
  • Assist in the development of an overall strategy for physical performance & nutrition which encompasses best practice in all aspects of planning, preparation, recovery, travel and load management for international football.
  • Development & delivery of Sport Science service for England Women’s & Men’s teams.
  • Delivery of physical performance coaching and planning to England Women’s & Men’s development teams as required.
  • Close working relationships with national coaches and support staff to ensure a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach at all times.
  • Close working relationships with peers in professional clubs to enable knowledge of and management of international players.
  • Assist in the leadership and delivery of key internal and external research projects which underpin future service development.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of organisations and individuals outside football with whom to share and develop best practice.
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities

What we are looking for:

  • A qualification at post graduate degree level (or equivalent) with focus on sports science and/or sports analytics.
  • Extensive experience (Over 5 years) in delivering sport science support at elite level with proven ability to impact these sporting environments.
  • Expertise with varied athlete tracking/monitoring technology, Google Suite, Excel and visualisation tools.
  • Experience in delivering Strength & Conditioning/Physical Performance coaching on and off field of play, impacting elite sporting environments.
  • Demonstrated evidence of academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in sport science.
  • Demonstrated evidence of working with external individuals and institutions to develop and optimise internal sport science practice.
  • Track record of successfully integrating into established and developing coaching teams
  • Proven delivery of operational planning
