Manager, Regional Office - Africa

Reports to: Director, Regional Office (RO)

The Manager, Regional Office will work in close cooperation with stakeholders in their region - in particular, with Governments, National Olympic Committees (NOC), International Federations (IFs), National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs and RADOs), as well as Major Event Organizations (MEOs) – to assist in the development of anti-doping programs and provide guidance where required to ensure quality programs are in place to protect clean sport. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide anti-doping guidance and support to stakeholders in the region;
  • Support the RO activities and key program areas;
  • Contribute to the conduct and further development of WADA’s World Anti-Doping Code monitoring program;
  • Play an active role in the liaison with the region’s Regional Anti-Doping Organizations (RADOs);
  • Attend and present at relevant meetings and conferences where required;
  • Participate in WADA interdepartmental working groups or ad hoc projects, as required;
  • Provide training to stakeholders on WADA’s Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS);
  • Assist in the coordination of events, as requested by the RO Director and in collaboration with the RO Office Coordinator;
  • Liaise with WADA’s Headquarters (based in Montreal, Canada) for optimal information sharing and alignment with WADA’s strategies and policies.

    Profile - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • University degree in management or law or international relations or any other relevant field;
  • An understanding of the various components of anti-doping programs such as education, doping control, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, results management, the Athlete Biological Passport, and investigations;
  • Knowledge of the structures of international sport;
  • Prior experience working for a NADO, government, IF or MEO, particularly in the region, an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English and French, additional language skills in Portuguese (depending on the region); 
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Experience in delivering training, facilitating meetings and/or giving presentations;
  • Knowledge of or experience in using ADAMS an asset;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills;
  • Experience in an international setting desirable;
  • Results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously;
  • Able to work quickly and accurately;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Fit with culture and organization values e.g. teamwork, team spirit and love of sport;
  • Some travel required;
  • Periodic evening and/or weekend work expected.
